Al-Furqan Academy
2333 St. John Bluff Road South, Jacksonville, FL 32246

Private Full Time Islamic School. Al-Furqan Academy was established in August of 1997 by some of the same founding members of ICNEF (Islamic Center of Northeast Florida). They saw the immense need for an Islamic Elementary School in the city of Jacksonville, and they acted upon it. First, written plans were formulated, classrooms were established within the Masjid, staff was recruited and numerous other plans and procedures developed. The result is that today, we are a school of approximately 60 students ranging in ages from 3 years up to the fifth grade. We have a new playground built according to federal safety guidelines as well as a library with three new, networked computers for our student’s use. It is indeed a blessing for any community to have within its midst a school consisting of a diverse population of children, where a multitude of ethnic backgrounds, religions, as well as cultural differences coexist and flourish together.

PHILOSOPHY & PURPOSE

The purpose and philosophy of Al-Furqan Academy is to please Allah (The Almighty) and to approach all issues with the guidance of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). In addition, it is the vision of the Islamic Center of Northeast Florida and Al-Furqan Academy to enhance the lives of all children educationally, spiritually, and emotionally. InshaAllah (God willing), Al-Furqan Academy will:

Provide an Islamic environment that is conducive to learning for all students in an academically challenging program.

Provide a comprehensive program which benefits our students educational, physical, social, cognitive, and emotional needs, within the parameters of Islamic guidance enabling students to seek knowledge and success in this life and the Hereafter.

Provide a staff that is qualified, competent, and flexible enough to meet the needs of all students and who continuously upgrade their skills by attending various professional development workshops and courses.

To prepare all students with understanding and practicing the ideals of Islam so that they may become active, articulate, and productive members of the world community.

Hope Therapy started as a dream shared by Marianne and Rebecca (Becky) Davenport, a mother-daughter team with a desire to help others. Marianne, a pediatric nurse practitioner, and Becky, an occupational therapist, both with extensive horse experience, founded Hope Therapy in 2001. Their commitment to high-quality services and excellent programs led Hope Therapy to become the only Premier Accredited Center in Northeast Florida by meeting the high standards set by the Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH Intl.). Throughout the years, they have maintained this accreditation by continuing to meet the standards and passing on-site inspections.

Nestled in Middleburg, FL, the farm is a serene 12-acre property with a wheelchair accessible mounting ramp, outdoor riding arena, and sensory trail for our clients. In our riding arena, you will find colorful cones, a basketball hoop, letters, and a ring-toss game. The sensory trail has ground poles, barrels, and many hidden surprises, waiting to be found by our clients. To best set our clients up for success, we have adaptive equipment, such as loop ladder reins and activity boards. We also have picnic tables and Adirondack chairs for our client’s families to enjoy as they watch their family member’s sessions. Sessions are individualized and typically one on one with our occupational therapist, physical therapist, or therapeutic riding instructor.

Childcare for the Modern Family
Parents face challenges that simply didn’t exist a generation ago. We believe childcare should help make parenthood a little easier. When you welcome an au pair into your home, you give your family quality, live-in childcare – with a cultural twist. Because au pairs provide live-in childcare, they offer greater flexibility, caring for your children at times that accommodate your family’s individual schedule. Au pairs can fulfill a variety of roles that help your family thrive and grow.

Where Children Become the Greatest Version of Themselves

Growing Together Behavioral Center is one of Jacksonville’s premier schools for children with autism and developmental disabilities. We pride ourselves on being a school where each child is treated as an individual, and educational plans are tailored to their personal needs.

For the 2018-2019 school year, we are excited to partner with 25 students with autism and other developmental disabilities, ages 3 through 15 years. For each child, we will offer a comprehensive educational and therapeutic program, specifically providing students with customized academic plans, while integrating proven, research-based behavioral strategies into every learning task. Our school is unique from the public school settings, as we are able to focus on the specific needs of each individual child, whether academic, life skills, or behavioral. We are also unique in that we offer year-round school and extremely low student to teacher ratio (largest class 6:2), both of which are proven methods to help our children work toward their highest level of learning.

At Growing Together we believe that all students affected by autism and other developmental disabilities can reach their fullest potential through an education based in structure, fun engagement with peers, and loving teachers and staff supporting and encouraging them daily. Each child’s individual strengths and challenges are continually assessed to direct the child’s teachers in selecting the best methodologies to target the child’s current needs. We believe that open communication between teachers, staff, and families is a must, and we have communication plans in place with each family to meet those needs.

He recalls hearing the concerns of many coworkers, friends, and associates regarding the lack of childcare during their demanding unconventional work schedules. A probationary officer, who at the time had recently graduated from the Academy was placed on the midnight shift. She couldn’t find adequate childcare for her hours of work and also suffered from postpartum depression to the point that she attempted suicide. After Martin and his team rescued her, he was determined never to let this happen to another person. Martin’s endeavor to help ensure that no other parent face this type of situation was developed. His passion to provide a quality 7 days a week childcare, which would provide childcare during traditional and or non-traditional work hours for first Responders and all working parents was created.

Working in a traditional office with a rigid schedule can hardly be called the best solution for parents who don’t want to miss their children’s milestones. Taking a kid to the office is not allowed. Daycare facilities are rather expensive, what’s more, some toddlers suffer from stress when they have to part with mom. Our cowork spaces let caring parents balance their work and life, keep strong bonds with their youngsters, and build a career. Child-friendly coworking spaces give freelancers and entrepreneurs a great opportunity to achieve their dream work-life balance.

Welcome to San Jose Episcopal Day School!

It is an honor and a pleasure to usher you into this vibrant community of joyful, lifelong learners and to introduce you to all that makes SJEDS so unique! Our curricular and extracurricular programming, all of which is thoughtfully and intentionally designed to meet the social-emotional, cognitive, physical, and spiritual needs is offered to Pre-K3 through sixth grade students.

Excellence in teaching and learning starts with talented and dedicated faculty and staff. Our highly experienced and credentialed faculty continuously seek out opportunities to expand their horizons through professional development and through their involvement in various national and international associations and organizations. Innovators and collaborators at heart, our faculty and staff delight in furthering the mission of SJEDS, which is to inspire a passion for lifelong learning, a life of integrity, and a heart for Christian service.

One of the great benefits of belonging to a small, Christian school community is that each child can be individually nurtured, encouraged, challenged, and celebrated as they learn and grow. We are grateful for the close partnership that we share with our parent community and for the privilege of being an integral part of each child’s journey through childhood.

Childhood is a sacred season in life. It is sacred because it is the foundation upon which everything else is built. And it is sacred because it hinges ever-so-delicately upon a trust that binds parents, educators, and students together. For these reasons, we take our work very seriously. Ask any adult on our campus and they will tell you–this is not just a job; it is a calling: a calling to bless each child and each family that walks through our doors each and every day.

A San Jose Episcopal Day School education is grounded in a desire to empower students as creative thinkers and problem-solvers, as role models of empathy and kindness, and as positive change agents, who know they can make a difference!

Thank you for taking the time to explore our program. We hope to welcome you to campus soon so that you can experience the warmth, vibrancy, and joy that sets this learning community apart! To take a tour, please contact Vivian Bradford in our Admission Department at [email protected].
