Cesery Park is located in Arlington’s Lake Lucina neighborhood, at the corner of Cesery Boulevard and Columbine Street. The park and boulevard are named for William R. First Coast Rowing Club is a non-profit athletic program open to all middle and high school students grades 7-12 in the Jacksonville area. JCC offers an exciting and unique music experience for children who have a passion for singing. The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is beginning its new season on September 15th, 2020. Please encourage your aspiring singers to audition with us for the upcoming season if they are interested in enhancing their music education and opportunities.

While prior musical training is not necessary to participate, an audition is required for singers in grades 2-12. To ensure that we are keeping your health and safety our top priority, auditions can be scheduled virtually or in-person with social distancing and a mask required. There is no fee to audition. Need-based scholarships are available.

Auditions are quick and simple. There is no need to have a prepared audition piece.

Private Full Time Islamic School. Al-Furqan Academy was established in August of 1997 by some of the same founding members of ICNEF (Islamic Center of Northeast Florida). In order to join the Pawsitive Reading program, children AND at least one parent/guardian must first attend a one-time Pawsitive Reading orientation. We offer several orientations each month. Upcoming orientation dates and sign-up links are below. Advance registration is required.

Orientations will take place in either the JHS Education Center or Conference Room (both are located upstairs, above the Adoption Center). Our address is 8464 Beach Blvd. Please arrive on time. The orientation will be around 40 minutes in length.

After attending an orientation, children and an adult chaperone may come to JHS to read to the animals anytime our Adoption Center is open (12pm-7pm on weekdays, 10am-5pm on weekends). Participants must sign in and out at the front desk when visiting JHS to read.

To ensure that our animals benefit from the program, we ask that readers spend at least 30 minutes reading – there is no maximum time limit.

Children may read to either dogs or cats and may bring their reading materials or borrow books from our Pawsitive Reading library.

Participants will receive a free book courtesy of The Jim Moran Foundation while supplies are available.

This park is named after A. Philip Randolph who grew up in Jacksonville and became one of the most important figures of the Civil Rights Movement during the 1950s and 1960s. A life-size bronze statue of Olympic Gold Medallist and Dallas Cowboy star, Bob Hayes, was added to the park in November 2002. Hayes grew up in Jacksonville, less than a mile from the park. Park amenities include playscapes, an amphitheater, picnic tables, benches and restrooms.

Oakland Park is located in the Oakland section of downtown Jacksonville, and has been City property since the 1880’s.
