I’m Annie Hyde, and I teach year-round swimming one person/one family at a time. Safety, self-rescue techniques and strong swimming skills taught to individuals 9 months old to 99 years old. I specialize in private lessons–however, the whole family is invited to participate in order to customize safety & fun for your unique circumstances. Drowning prevention is a part of ALL my classes. I’m a Swim Lesson University Instructor–SLU instruction is recommended by the FL Dept of Health, and used by schools, YMCAs, and many other organizations across the USA and in 30 countries. I’m a retired Red Cross lifeguard, and have 26 years of teaching experience in the water. I’m an AEA certified Personal Trainer for Water Fitness, and a certified Yoga instructor with a credentialed specialization for Aquatic Yoga.
I have advanced training and years of experience with Special Needs Individuals as well as involvement with Special Olympics, and my multi-level education for Special Needs include the Dan Merino certification. My lessons for wee ones are child-focused and gentle–nothing is forced, and I use swim-aids, toys & games to keep it effortless & exciting. I have a light spirit, understanding heart & gentle encouragement for non-swimming adults. Are you or your child fearful in the water? I’m your person, and I will embrace & respect your concerns.
Riverside/Avondale area classes in heated indoor pool (85 degrees!)–Good Shepherd Pool–5 days a week.
