JMB’s Guide to Swim Lessons in Jacksonville

Did you know that drowning is the leading cause of death among children ages 1-4 in Florida and Florida’s drowning death rate is the highest in the nation?

With summer around the corner, there is no better time than now to start thinking water safety! Classes around Jacksonville fill up quickly, so I would recommend inquiring about swim lessons asap so you don’t get put on a waiting list! Now is a great time to get info about putting a child barrier around your pool too, if you don’t have one.

Keep Your Kids Safe:

Safer Kids means ensuring constant adult supervision and never allowing a child to be unattended; developing swim skills through on-going and qualified instruction; learning and practicing proper behavior in and around the water.

Safer Response means to learn and renew CPR, first-aid and rescue techniques through on-going courses; keep an emergency action plan, rescue equipment, and phone by the pool at all times. Be prepared.

Safer Water means installing, maintaining and utilizing proper fencing, self-closing gates and latches, pool and spa covers, pool alarms and additional safety equipment to protect the swimming perimeter. No
barrier to the water is 100% effective, so use multiple layers of protection to keep young children from entering the water when you’re not watching.

  1. I am currently looking for private swim lessons for my 2 children and am having the hardest time finding someone! Could anyone recommend someone in the Mandarin/St Johns county area? Thank you!

  2. The Infant Swimming Resourse phone number is not valid. Can you please update it to include just he website, as there are several local instructors for ISR.

Also, can you add my swim school to the list Little Seals Swim School, proudly providing year-round ISR lessons in an indoor, heated pool. Address: 12489 San Jose Blvd, Ste 6, Jacksonville, Fl, 32223.

  3. I’ve heard that ISR can be traumatic for mom to watch. Can anyone comment on traditional classes vs ISR?
