SUMMARY:Autism Creates | MOCA Jacksonville
DESCRIPTION:An art education initiative designed for children and families with Autism Spectrum Disorders (ASD) and other differences. \nWhile children with ASD struggle with verbal communication\, social relations\, and sensory development\, creative art-making activities enable them to foster new means of self-expression and communication. Utilizing two educational components—hands-on art workshops and the museum galleries —the Autism Creates program harnesses art and art-making activities as means of promoting expression and social interaction among children with ASD and their teachers\, caregivers\, and peers. Created in 2007\, this innovative program\, previously called Rainbow Artists and Art Aviators\, and its results have been nationally recognized by museum associations and health care providers alike. \nMonthly workshops are hosted on-site at MOCA Jacksonville for up to 10 children with ASD and their families. Families will explore the galleries\, create art\, and participate in sensory activities. Join us the second Saturday of each month from 10-11 A.M. \nThere is no cost to attend but space is limited and registration is required. Registration opens two weeks before the event.\nIf you can not attend\, please cancel your registration to open the spot up to another family. Thank you.

SUMMARY:Kids Art Lab | Jacksonville Public Library - Main Branch
DESCRIPTION:Kids Art Lab encourages young artists to make cross-curricular connections between Science\, Technology\, Engineering\, Art\, and Math (STEAM). \nKids ages 6-10 join MOCA Educators for fun and engaging art activities inspired by a monthly theme. Each session includes a trip to the galleries to see how artists are inspired by STEAM topics\, plus an interactive and creative project that attendees can bring home—but don’t worry the mess of creation stays in MOCA’s studios. Join us for Kids Art Lab the second Saturday of each month at noon!

SUMMARY:Spring Artisan Festival | First Coast Cultural Center
DESCRIPTION:First Coast Cultural Center is looking for local artisans to exhibit and sell their handmade wares at the first Spring Artisan Festival on March 28\, from 10:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.\, at 6000B Sawgrass Village Circle\, Ponte Vedra\, FL\, 32082. \n“Our goal is to showcase artisans in our community\, and they keep 100% of the sales\,” according to Kimberly Sheridan\, FCCC’s Events and Fundraising Manager. “It’s also an opportunity for visitors to learn more about the Cultural Center\, which recently celebrated its 30th anniversary\, and how we support artists and offer an entrance into the arts world with classes\, programs\, exhibitions\, and various events.” \nThis vibrant event will primarily take place in FCCC’s downstairs indoor space and outdoors\, where each vendor will be assigned one parking lot space. The total cost for an outdoor space is $100 for future members and $80 for current members\, and indoors\, the spots are $150 for future members and $125 for current members. \nCategories include watercolor artists\, acrylic painters\, jewelry makers\, and glass artisans. Sheridan is also looking to add quilters\, seamstresses\, ceramicists\, textile workers\, and more to this list. “We are eager to see what kind of art new vendors will bring to the festival.” \nSheridan says artisans are responsible for bringing all items needed for setup\, including tables\, tents\, and signs. Additionally\, vendors are asked to advertise for their booths\, and FCCC will spread awareness through e-news\, social media\, and press-release avenues. \nThe Artisan Festival is open to the public\, with a suggested donation of $5 per person\, and no tickets are needed. The deadline to book a spot is March 14. Reach out to Sheridan at ksheridan@firstcoastculturalcenter.org with any questions.
