My Five Favorite Daily Deals

Online shopping is a lifesaver for busy moms. I admit, when I was a new mom with my baby quietly sleeping in her stroller, I enjoyed walking the Avenues Mall or the St. John’s Town Center to find the latest deals. Fast-forward five years to my girls hiding in the clothing racks and yelling things like “Mom, why is that bra so much bigger than yours?” and online shopping is my new best friend.

Lucky for us moms living in the tech-age, there are many budget-friendly daily deal websites right at our fingertips. Here are the details of my five favorite daily deal sites and a few similar sites that my mom friends recommended:

Jane

Formerly known as Very Jane, Jane.com delivers daily boutique deals up to 75 percent off the original price. Their items are very trendy (think lots of Chevron and patterned leggings) and include jewelry, cardigans, phone cases, kid clothes, maternity clothes and even home décor such as throw pillows and wall art. The list really is endless. My recent purchases include infinity scarves, fleece lined leggings, knit headbands, and tunics and I love it all. The prices are so great, it’s hard to resist over-buying. Shipping is a bit slow; my last order arrived at my doorstep 10 days after I placed my order.

Similar sites are Simple Addiction, Sassy Steals and GroopDealz.

HauteLook

HauteLook specializes in “flash sales” of designer clothes. Sign-up for your free membership and receive daily e-mails with private, limited time sales of top fashion items at up to 75 percent off. HauteLook is a member of the Nordstrom family and recently launched Nordstrom Rack for HauteLook as part of their website. A big pro is you can return eligible items to Nordstrom Rack stores. The con to using this website, as with most bargain websites, is the slow shipping. But at these prices, I’m not complaining.

Similar sites are Rue La La and  Bluefly.

Zulily

Zulily makes deals with top brands to give you a handpicked selection of high-quality goods. I mainly shop Zulily for children’s clothing, but they also sell beauty products, accessories, kids room décor and more. When we moved to Rhode Island, I bought my daughters’ snowsuit and coat sets on Zulily for $30 and they are high quality and keep them warm and dry in the snow. Zulily allows you to select your favorite brands and they will notify you when a deal on that brand is coming up. Zulily’s shipping is also slow so order in plenty of time. My most recent purchase took a little over two weeks to arrive.

Plum District

Plum District is similar to Groupon except it is geared towards moms. This daily deal site was created by a community of moms connecting other moms to products at a great value. This site offers discounts on everything from restaurants and spas, to kids and family activities, to hotels and weekend getaways and more. They seek out notable local businesses to feature and offer a different fantastic deal every day. When you purchase a “plum deal” you purchase a voucher to print and take to the business or use the voucher code to redeem online. My favorite “plum deal” I’ve purchased was $11 for $20 to spend at Reduce and I bought BPA-free reusable water bottles for my daughters’ lunch boxes and reusable coffee cups for myself.  I recommend reading the fine print, as there are limits to the number of vouchers you can purchase and they do expire.

Shop It To Me

If you dream of having an online personal shopper who finds deals in your size at your favorite stores, stop dreaming and sign up for Shop It To Me’s daily e-mails. Simply choose the brands you love, enter your size, and how often you want to receive the e-mails. This site searches over 150 online retailers to find deals on items you care about. Once you find an item you want to purchase, Shop It To Me directs you to that online store to make your purchase. The pro to this site is shipping is faster because you are purchasing directly from a retail store such as Ann Taylor and you can return items to the store.

Shop It To Me

Other daily deal sites worth noting are The Clymb for outdoor gear; Joss & Main, Wayfair, and One Kings Lane for furniture and decor.

Daily deals are awesome, but taking an hour to go through your inbox every day?  Not awesome! Enter unroll.me.  I recently learned about this website and it is AMAZING! Simply enter your e-mail address and password and unroll.me will scan your e-mail for all online subscriptions, alphabetize them on one page, and give you the option to unsubscribe or include them in your daily rollup. I unsubscribed from over 50 websites in less than two minutes and now I receive all my shopping e-mails in one “rollup” e-mail each day. Do this now and thank me later.

Liz
Liz Morrow is a stay at home mom and wife to a US Navy helicopter pilot. Their Naval family will live many places, but have been fortunate to have a longer than expected eight-year stay in Jacksonville. Liz is a mom of two sweet little girls who look like twins except they were born 2 ½ years apart. She worked as a Certified Public Accountant for seven years before trading her briefcase for a way too big diaper bag. In her spare time, Liz loves to workout, run, cook, blog, and sip wine. She never turns down a date night with her hubby and also loves Girls’ Night Out. She is active in her Officers’ Spouses’ Club (Navy wives) and her Mom-2-Mom group at church, and you will frequently find her helping with the babies and preschoolers at church on Sunday morning.
