Get (Fiscally) Organized – Part II

[featured-img] If you remember, last month I challenged you to get organized. Was the challenge accepted?? I know all of you have been very diligent about cleaning out and organizing your home offices these past few weeks, right?  So now you are ready to start budgeting. We are no longer in the era of Excel being our only budgeting tool. Budgeting in this day and age cannot be any easier. Listed are some great apps and programs for budgeting that I recommend.

There is an App For That!

Quicken Home and Business

I’ve used Quicken for years and have been very happy with it. They also now have a great mobile app. This is a good program if you want a really comprehensive view of your finances. It is pricey, but there are different versions to choose from.

Droid Wallet

This is a great FREE app that is easy and simple to use. You can create your budget and then enter your expenses right into the app as you incur them. This is a really nice and easy way to stay on top of things.

Budgee

This is a FREE iPhone app that is very easy to use with little hassle. Budgee tracks how much you want to spend and how much you’ve spent in a very simple, user-friendly format. Love this one!

Best Budget

This is also an iPhone app that you can try out for free first and then buy it for $.99 if you decide you like it. Best Budget lets you create unlimited expense or income budgets. It also lets you track transitions of each budget.

Now that you have some budgeting tools to choose from, sit down and make your budget! Maybe this time without a glass of wine, otherwise your “Entertainment” category (this is where I put my wine:)) may end up being a little bit higher than it should 😉 Happy budgeting!

If you have any great budgeting tools that you love to use, please share them below. I love hearing what works best for others!

Cheryl
Cheryl Leddy is both a mom and a C.P.A. in her native Jacksonville, FL. Upon graduating from the University of Florida, her love for Jacksonville brought her back to the First Coast where she began her career and her family. She and her husband have three curly-haired children, Nate, Evelyn, and Whit, whom she adores, but who constantly keep her on her toes! Cheryl is fortunate to be able to work as a C.P.A. at Farmand, Farmand, and Farmand, LLP while also being home with her children (except during the dreaded “tax season”!). Her favorite parts about living in Jacksonville are the great family and kid-friendly activities, the proximity to the beach, as well as the short drive to Gainesville, where she can keep up with the Florida Gators (her first true love)! She is excited to share some tax and financial tips that can benefit all moms and growing families…hope you enjoy!
