Hope’s Closet Turns One!

Thank you to Hope’s Closet for partnering with Jax Moms Blog and serving the community of Jacksonville. All opinions are still my own.

Hopes Closet

“I saw the word Hope–and I need Hope, so I stopped in.”

The folks at Hope’s Closet hear that more often than one would think. Another statement they hear a few times a week is the fact that guests are surprised when they find out Hope’s Closet is actually a thrift store. And I must say, all my years in Jacksonville, I have never seen any thrift store quite like this.

HopesCloset1Hope’s Closet Thrift Store opened its doors in August 2015, in the old Winn Dixie storefront on the corner of Beach & San Pablo Blvd. It is an extension of the ministry of The Church of Eleven 22, which is located in the same plaza. But it is much more than a place that accepts donations of clothes, shoes and housewares. Simply put, Hope’s Closet Thrift Store is a place to glorify God by providing affordable donated and new merchandise in a dignified retail setting.

The first time I walked into Hope’s Closet, I was amazed. I can easily see how someone who didn’t know this was a second-hand store would be confused. The displays are thoughtfully put together, with task lighting and props. The floor is a stained concrete and jewelry is displayed on clap board & deer antlers.

But it was the people of Hope’s Closet that make it what it is–a place to serve the community. Comprised of a staff that is almost completely volunteers, they are friendly and welcoming. No judgy looks from them as my kids “test out” the merchandise in the toy section. When I was trying on a dress, a nice lady went to search for size 8 shoes that would match. I shop here at least a few times a month and I donate items as well. They have staff that assist you when you drive up to their collection area–which is perfect when you have a van full of things you don’t necessarily want your children to recognize.

To celebrate their One Year Anniversary of serving the community, Hope’s Closet will be offering special prices from August 26th-30th. On August 27th the anniversary celebration will include food and Pura Bean Coffee, along with The Promise Radio at the store from 11am – 1pm.
