My New Love Affair with Ellie

Not long ago I heard about a new online clothing company for women called Ellie. Ellie designs and creates activewear for women who want to look and feel good, but don’t want to spend a fortune. As a yoga pant-wearing mom, I’m always on the hunt for comfy, stylish clothing that I can wear while running errands around town, to the gym, or to Stroller Strength. When I really started researching Ellie, I knew it was quite clear that it was in my best interest to reach out.

Ellie is a very new company and was looking for blog reviews, lucky for us they selected JMB!

I’m cheating on my first love. I’m not going to lie, I have always been a Lululemon devotee. And I will most likely always have some pieces from them rotating in my wardrobe. But let’s be honest, how often can we pay the price? Every three to six months? Birthday and Christmas? Ellie has an interesting concept where workout clothes don’t have to be considered a “luxury” item.

Meet Ellie

Ellie gives customers the option of receiving discounted items every month through a subscription they call the Fit Fashionista Club. No, you do not have to subscribe to Ellie, but you’ll save more if you do. Members fill out a style profile and receive Ellie’s top picks for their lifestyle, although you do not have to choose those pieces. I know some people are nervous about subscribing to anything, but if the brand intrigues you like it did me, it’s definitely worth considering.

My Review

I was given the opportunity to choose two pieces from the February collection. It was a tough choice but I was immediately drawn to the Electric Love Capri. Bold turquoise leggings! As Ellie refers to them; a statement pant. I also ordered the Just Like Heaven tee in gray. Still nursing sweet Audrey so no tight tanks for me right now 🙂

I ordered a medium in both because I get so nervous about tightness, especially tight leggings around the waist. I was SO happy with the medium tee because for once, I don’t feel self conscious about my current top-heaviness. I definitely could have ordered a small bottom (I think they go S/M and M/L, plus they offer an XS which is a good indicator that the small is not crazy small). If you don’t know me I’m about 5’2 and on a good day about 117 (did I just disclose that? ugh). I will definitely be ordering small bottoms from now on.

Did I love my new outfit? Yes, I can confidently say that I am 95% in love with this look. The shirt, absolutely perfect. And aside from wishing I ordered the small bottom, my only criticism was I was expecting a thicker material for the capris. It turns out these are 90% nylon and 10% spandex. They are amazingly soft and comfy, but if you order the wrong size you won’t get a reasonably snug fit or worse, they will be so tight you may feel they are too revealing or sheer when you bend. I wore them to the gym that day and I felt good. I did the bend test for my husband and got a very enthusiastic thumbs up, haha.

Because I was so worried about the material, I contacted the company to ask if all the bottoms are made out of the same material and the answer was no, there are other options. I am hoping they add the fabric blends to the descriptions online. The Love Struck Legging would be my next choice, and that was has less nylon and more spandex.

Ellie is a brand new company, so they are definitely working out kinks, as I saw on their Facebook page. But unlike a lot of companies out there, they are highly responsive and quick to fix any issues or answer any questions for you.

If you decide you are ALL IN like me, please read through their website to get the whole scoop of the Fit Fashionista Club. I seriously cannot wait to get more awesome outfits like this one!
