The Low-Maintenance Guide to Dealing with a High-Maintenance Friend

BeamerHighMaintenance

I’m a high-maintenance friend. #HMF There I said it! I need a lot, but I give a lot. I’m a lover and one of the most loyal friends you’ll ever have. I always seem to have something going on, and it is always an emergency. You know the friend whose kid locked her out of the house, husband locked himself out, and locked her keys in the car all in the same week? Yep, that’s me! It’s just always one crap storm after another over here. I’m the type of friend that you love to hate because you know deep down that you can’t live without me.

So how do you deal with a totally exhausting friend like me if you want to keep them around?

Call Me

Call me now and then to tell me how something reminded you of me. Even if you have to make something up. I like to be a special part of your day when we are apart.

Don’t Leave Me Hanging

If I text you, text me back. Doesn’t have to be a paragraph either. A quick smiley face emoji is all it takes to keep the crazy at bay. It also helps to keep me from over analyzing my previous text.

Give Me a Job To Do

Even if it’s as simple as being on the lookout for your favorite food truck! I love to feel like an important part of your life. If I can find your favorite grilled cheese and even bring it your house, I’ll be set for a good two weeks.

Don’t Tell Me I’m Wrong

And if I am wrong, just say, “wow that’s one way to do it!” Don’t try to change me or my mind. The world revolves around me and my rightness. That spot in between those two things is not a good place to be.

Ask Me For Advice

It’s ok if you don’t need any actual advice. It makes us high maintenance friends feel important when you seek out our opinions, especially if it has to do with mom stuff or how to cook something.

Gear up for Crazy

I promise there will never be a dull moment with a high maintenance friend like me, so sit back and enjoy the ride! I know I can be a lot to deal with at times, but try to remember why we are still friends! Our relationship is one of a kind that will bring lots of unexpected twists and tons of entertainment, pinky swear!

There isn’t an awareness month to warn others about high maintenance friends like me. To get the word out, I am declaring today the hug a high maintenance friend day! Your #HMF will feel so special! I guarantee it will probably be the highlight of their week! We would love to see pictures of this special day, so use #JMBhugaHMFday to share your photos with us!! Too much?
