Fireworks Over the Matanzas

Celebrate Independence Day in the Nation’s Oldest City as Fireworks Over the Matanzas returns on Saturday, July 4. Hosted by the City of St. Augustine, the annual celebration features live music, a fireworks show over Matanzas Bay, free shuttle service, and family-friendly festivities throughout downtown.

As part of the America250 celebration, the Florida Freedom Tour will be onsite at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument parking lot featuring two repurposed 18-wheelers transformed into traveling museums, showcasing exhibits and artifacts from the Museum of Florida History. One semi-truck tells the history of Florida at its founding as the 14th colony and the other semi-truck references Florida’s rise in the 20th century.

The celebration begins at 6:00 p.m. in the Plaza de la Constitución, where The All-Star Orchestra will perform a free two-hour concert featuring patriotic favorites and popular music.

The fireworks display will begin at 9:00 p.m. The 20-minute show will light up the sky above Matanzas Bay and will be synchronized with a soundtrack of patriotic and popular music broadcast along the bayfront.
