Jacksonville Mom Neighborhood and Community Groups

Introducing Neighborhood and Parenting Groups in Jacksonville!

Our primary goal in creating Jacksonville Mom (formerly Jacksonville Moms Blog) was to connect moms online, as well as offline through playdates and our events. Jacksonville is the largest city by area in the United States and we would like to make it feel a little smaller by creating neighborhood playgroups! Whether you’re a new mom, new to the city, or just want to meet new friends, our monthly meet-ups will be the perfect way to connect with moms in your area.

We currently have 14 neighborhood groups and 10 specialty groups available to join. Don’t see your neighborhood? We’re just starting this program so please let us know so we can get your area covered. Just click on your neighborhood and ask to join the group!

Megan Kilis
Born in Jacksonville and raised in New Orleans and Houston, Megan attended college in Knoxville, then worked in Nashville. From her nomadic lifestyle grew a love for the beach, as well as a fondness for Cajun food and jazz, Texas BBQ, Tennessee football, and everything Music City. She is a work-from-home mompreneur with a passion for business, fashion, fitness, community, and all things mom. Having fallen in love with her parents’ hot plumber Mike in 2007, she married him two years later in her parents’ backyard. After their spunky curly-haired charmer Kingsley was born in February 2010, Megan decided not to return to her job. While spending time as a stay-at-home mom, however, she realized that Jacksonville was lacking some important resources for moms–so in August 2012, she asked her friend Vicky to join her in starting Jacksonville Moms Blog, now Jacksonville Mom. Megan loves learning more about her city; connecting with other moms, as well as connecting moms with one another; and discovering new local businesses. As the blog has grown, so has her family: in May 2014, she and Mike welcomed a spirited baby boy named Britton. When she’s not working on Jacksonville Mom, you can find Megan sweating it out with other moms, shooting skeet with Mike, or running around on the beach with her energetic duo!

  1. Is the San Marco FB group linked correctly? I can’t get the page to open for some reason (others worked for me)

  2. I am a music teacher, former lower-school music director of The Bolles School, who has started a music business through which I offer general music classes for preschoolers up through 5th-grade homeschoolers in several different areas of Jacksonville. I also offer private piano and guitar instruction. I have a website: http://www.TheTrebleWithMusic.com and a Facebook page. Is there a way to spread information about what I offer on your blog?

  3. Can a list be posted anywhere else beside Facebook for us none Facebook users. Would love to find families nearby but we don’t use Facebook.

    Thanks
    Allison

    • Unfortunately, the neighborhood groups are only on FB. It’s the easiest way for moms to get info about playdates and connect with other moms in the area…. We do post about bigger events on the website so please subscribe!

  4. Hi there! Can we add Historic Springfield to the “downtown” group? We have lots of mamas and are ready to mingle!

  5. Julington Creek – My son is almost 13 and an only child. We do not live in a neighborhood so finding friends to play with is tough!!! Are these groups for older children as well?? Any suggestions?

  6. Good morning Mommas!! I am Emily, I am an elementary school teacher in the San Marco area. I am looking for part time nannying/ babysitting jobs to help supplement my income and because I adore working with little ones!

If you find yourself in need of a great date night sitter, please let me know! I am more than happy to give you more information about myself- so please don’t hesitate to ask!

    Thanks,
    Emily

  7. Are there any stay at home moms here? We moved to Green Cove Springs in January. I don’t know anyone and I’m looking to make some mom friends. We have a 10 month old daughter and I would love for her to meet some friends also.
