The reason my family loves AGF is not just because of all the fall fun, but because of their mission. This time of year should remind us of giving and showing kindness to others. The owners of AGF are not only family-based, but they are community and faith-based as well. They actively participate in volunteer efforts for their church, the agricultural and life sciences community, and multiple local charities. It makes having fun feel a little more purposeful knowing the foundation of the farm is rooted in kindness and community.

Having a 2-year-old and a 3-month-old means prioritizing what activities we want to do this time of year. We all know the holidays can get crazy and packed with tons of to-dos. AGF always makes the list because of the wide range of family-oriented entertainment. My toddler is a ball of energy and loves to go and explore all the open space, and I am a firm believer that fresh air is good for the soul! The cow tractor ride is his absolute favorite, along with seeing some of their farm animals.

As a mom, I’m all about photo ops. They have a handful of staged areas where you can take your pictures and also have a pumpkin patch that makes for cute photos, too. We all know too well that our kids grow so fast at this age, and it’s nice to be given the opportunity to document them year after year.

Another offering at AGF is their lineup of food trucks and vendors. This really makes it a full-day event. Last year, they had a handful of options with tons of family-friendly selections, and I can’t wait to see what yummy bites they will have this year.

For my family, I know that this will be a main family outing for us, and I really hope you can make it a day of family fun, as well! But if not, always remember that this time of year is magical — especially for the kids. Spending extra time with family and friends is a blessing, and no matter where you choose to go or what you choose to do, remember it is about the quality of time spent together that will create memories for years to come.

Meagan Bishop
Meagan was raised in Orange Park (now Fleming Island) and attended St. Johns Country Day School from PreK-12th grade. She moved to DeLand when she was 18 to attend Stetson University where she got her bachelor's in Education. She loved that little town so much that she decided to stay and teach in central Florida for four more years after graduation. Once Meagan felt it was time, she moved back closer to home. She bought a great house out towards Jax Beach and got a job teaching Kindergarten at Lake Lucina Elementary. While she was there, she received her Masters in Equity and Diversity in Education from the University of Nevada. She taught at LLE for almost 6 years before I left to be a stay-at-home mom. Meagan got married in December 2020 and welcomed their first son in April 2021. She and her husband are currently expecting another little boy who is due to arrive in early July!
When she is not doing all the mom things she loves to cook and started her food blog, Prosecco and Pineapple, in 2018. Combining a love of food with her love for children is something she is very excited about, and I can't wait to share my joy for food and community with my boys as they get older.
