Gift Giving Guide for the Fitness Enthusiast

Fit Mom

I don’t know about you, but Christmas shopping seems to get harder and harder each year. It’s less than 20 days until Old St. Nick squeezes himself down the chimney, and I’ve bought two things. Two things! While I lament over what to get my friends and family, I DO have some gift ideas for the fitness enthusiast in your life.

I recently collaborated with my fellow Stroller Strength instructors on their favorite fitness gear and gadgets and here are the top 5 things we think every workout warrior will love:

AthLights – For the runner, cyclist or walker in your group AthLights are a great fitness safety gift. These small compact LED lights connect to your clothing and flash red and white to make you more visible to others. Athlights are durable and water/sweat resistant with up to 40-hour battery life. The LED lights also keep runners, walkers or cyclists visible for up to 600 feet away. Athlights are around $10 on Amazon.

Trigger Point Ball – If you have a friend who is working out a lot there is a good chance they are experiencing some aches and pains. Since you can’t get a massage every day, the Trigger Point Ball is the next best thing to work out those muscles. Similar in size to a tennis ball, the Trigger Point ball has patented material that will not compress after repeated use and actually feels like a human thumb. Don’t let its size fool you either. I’ve been near tears when using it on my quad, calf, and hips. The Trigger Point Ball is around $20 on Amazon or you can buy them locally at Jacksonville Running Company.

Hydro Flask – Is there anything worse then going for a refreshing sip of ice cold water after an intense run, weight lifting session or hot yoga class only to have your lips meet with luke warm water? Thanks to the Hydro Flask that water won’t drop a degree cooler than when you first put it in the water bottle. This double wall vacuum insulated stainless steel water bottle will keep drinks cold for up to 24 hours (and just in case you’re wondering it keeps drinks hot for up to 6 hours)! Hydro Flasks also come in some pretty cool colors like Green Zen and Pinkadelic, but perhaps the coolest part is that you can choose how big or little you want the Hydro Flask mouth to be. Believe me, whoever you’re gifting this for will think this is important!

Subscription to Fabletics – If your fitness enthusiast friends are anything like me they can’t get enough workout clothes. I’ve gotten many a workout shirt or shorts for birthday and Christmas presents and have even straight up asked if I could just go on a workout clothes shopping spree for my present. Fortunately, I found Fabletics and have been able to stock up my workout wardrobe at an affordable price. Co-founded by actress Kate Hudson, Fabletics is an online subscription retailer offering its members personalized outfits based on their lifestyle and fashion preferences. Each month new styles are released, and you have until the 5th to order or skip. If you skip, you won’t be charged a dime. Outfits usually come with two or three pieces (think top, sports bra, and pants/leggings/shorts) and start from $49.95. The best part is when you sign up a friend their first outfit is 50% off!

Garmin Vivofit – The newest activity tracker, Garmin Vivofit is a perfect gift for exercise newbies. The Vivofit gives a personalized goal each morning and encourages movement throughout the day via a red bar that appears when you’ve been inactive. Unlike some of the other activity trackers, Vivofit’s are relatively inexpensive at just $100.
