Go Skate Day was created in 2004 by the International Association of Skateboard Companies as a way to promote the energy and love of skateboarding around the world. Also known as Go Skateboarding Day or International Skate Day, this is a great opportunity to get out in our beautiful city and hit up your favorite skate spot in honor of all things skateboarding. The perfect way to also celebrate the official kick off of the summer solstice, which was recognized the day before this year.

Go visit and support your local skate shop and meet up with friends to enjoy the many skateparks that Jacksonville has to offer. Having a place to skate was not always the case growing up and were few and far between, so we are lucky to have multiple skateparks in and around our city and all over the country. (We are patiently waiting for the one downtown to officially open up!) You can also visit Kona Skatepark, the world’s oldest operating skatepark, which happens to be in right here in our city!

Whether you skate street, vert, or bowl, or are new to skateboarding altogether, I encourage you to get out there and have fun, push around on those wheels, and make it a day outdoors that you can celebrate with your kids, friends, and family.
