Charity Spotlight!

We are so excited to partner up with Feeding Northeast Florida for this event. Feeding Northeast Florida helps local children, families, seniors, active military, and veterans that struggle to put food on the table. Working with local grocery stores, manufacturers, and farms they rescue high-quality food that would normally be wasted and transform it into meals for those in need. An estimated 270,900 individuals in Northeast Florida struggle to put food on the table. 76,220 of those individuals are children. In 2018, Feeding Northeast Florida distributed 14 million meals of fresh produce and high-quality food to community partners like City Rescue Mission, Trinity Rescue Mission, Beaches Emergency Assistance Ministry (BEAM), Salvation Army and The Sulzbacher Center for use in their feeding and food distribution programs. These partners each have unique feeding programs that assist local residents in need. Through their partnership with Feeding Northeast Florida, these community partners are able to reallocate their food budgets to other programs, like job training and placement, mental health counseling, and low-cost childcare.

Snackpack Program

Kids need proper nutrition every day in order to grow, develop and learn properly. Going even a day or two without food can have a huge impact on a child. Our Snackpack program provides a sack of kid-friendly, nutritionally balanced food to children every Friday during the school year. The food tides them over on Saturdays and Sundays, allowing them to return to school on Monday ready to learn. We provide Snackpacks to over 30 schools in four counties every week. Teachers and other school staff distribute the bags to kids in need every Friday. It’s really that simple. Benefits of the Snackpack program are felt most strongly on Monday mornings when Snackpack recipients are better equipped to learn and behavioral incidents are greatly reduced. Proper childhood nutrition helps kids succeed in school and contribute more later in life. The Snackpacks can have a positive impact throughout a child’s life.

For this event, we would love Jacksonville families to bring some of these items needed to create SnackPacks for children in our area. For every item you bring, JMB will give you one extra raffle tickets for our amazing giveaways!

List of items needed for Snackpacks:

Individually packaged items with ingredient labels are strongly preferred.

Goldfish
Applesauce Pouches (no sugar added)
Fruit cups (no sugar added)
Raisins
Veggie Straws
Peanut Butter (or other nut butter) packets
