Let the Cleansing Begin: With Watts Juicery!

Thank you to Watts Juicery for partnering with Jacksonville Moms Blog and giving us a local, healthy option for cleansing! All opinions are still my own.

School is back in session, and it may be time to focus a little more on ourselves, and hit the reset button on our daily food choices. After a summer of cookouts, vacations (and more ice cream cones than we care to remember), now is the time to get back to the basics with a Watts Juicery Cleanse.

If you’re like me, the word “cleanse” might make you feel scared or wonder “can I really do this?” I had thought about cleanses in the past, and even bought cleanse-in-a-box at a drugstore, but never ended up trying it. So first, why cleanse? According to Watts Juicery, “Cleansing isn’t a fad or a trend. It’s a smart, relatively fast way to help reduce and even remove some of the toxins in your body. A juice cleanse gives your digestive system and your liver a much-needed break from having to break down solid foods and toxins non-stop. Now add in the benefits that cleansing can help reduce your appetite and weight, improve your energy and pump you full of vitamins, nutrients, and minerals.”

I teamed up with a JMB co-owners Megan and Vicky and we decided to tackle our cleanse as a team effort. We chose a week that was relatively low-key, as it’s important to pick a low-stress time where you can focus on yourself both physically and mentally, and met up at Watts Juicery to order our cleanse, choosing the 3-Day Electric Cleanse. The staff walked us through our cleansing options and allowed us to sample the cold-pressed juices. The cold-pressed process of juicing preserves the most antioxidants and nutrients possible from fruits and vegetables. It’s the most efficient and effective way to give your body the maximum amount of nutrients, vitamins, and minerals it needs.

Day 1 of the Electric Cleanse. Labeled juices help you stay on track!

Cleanses are available in 1, 3 and 5-day options, and you can also choose from a Detox Cleanse and Custom Cleanse. The Electric Cleanse provides an immune boost and extra energy, offering 6, 16 oz. juices to drink every 2-3 hours. The cleanse includes your choice of a Fruit Juice, 2 Green Juices, Water (not just any water!),  Root Juice and a Milk. We were also able to customize by adding one of the seasonal juice options like the 55 Watts (Blueberry, Lemon, Apple, Lavender Oil and Tumeric). Interesting fact: The number of Watts is associated with the nutritional value, the higher the wattage, the better! The staff also let us know that if you need to eat, it’s OK. You can supplement the juices with fresh organic, fresh fruits and vegetables to provide you fiber and help you feel full. Nuts and seeds are also good to eat, as well as drinking plenty of water (recommended one glass of water in between each juice).

Lunch time, DAY 2. Yes, it’s ok to EAT and supplement with the veggies, fruits or nuts found in the juices.

The Spicy Watt-er was honestly my least favorite, but necessary for the cleanse with lemon, cayenne, activated charcoal and alkaline water. Think of it as a different version of the afternoon pick-me-up! The last juice of the day is a version of milk, and was my overall favorite. The 04 Watts was a delicious way to head to bed with Almond, Alkaline Water, Dates, Vanilla, and Sea Salt. For you chocolate lovers out there, there is also the 09 Watts option with Cashews, Alkaline Water, Dates, Cacao Chips, and Sea Salt.

Overall the Watts Juice cleanse was a great experience. A few things I learned:

1. It’s totally doable to do the cleanse and go about your day-to-day activities (yes, you can leave the house or do this at work..) and it’s easy to pack the juices with you on the go.

2. It’s way more fun to do with a friend or spouse! We enjoyed communicating throughout the day and keeping each other accountable. “SOS – I’m in the drive-thru with my kids, should I eat this fry?”

3. It made me think about how I use food in my day to day (for entertainment, to cope with stress, for boredom) and take the time to think about choices I make for my family.

About Watts Juicery

Watts Juicery owner, Annie Tuttle, was inspired to open a juicery when she saw the parallel between a fulfilling life and a healthy lifestyle after her mother was diagnosed with breast cancer 18 years ago. “Although my mother lived with cancer for over two decades, she was able to keep a positive outlook on life as a result of her healthy lifestyle and philanthropic commitments,” says Tuttle, who is determined to continue her mother’s legacy by educating the community on the importance of a healthy living while partnering with nonprofits such as The Donna Foundation, BEAM and PedsCare.

Lindy is a Nashville, Tennessee, native, soaking in the beach life with her husband and two adorable kids since 2013. “Always hustlin,” Lindy has spent time in marketing and communications for almost two decades, connecting with local businesses and creatives. In her free time, Lindy enjoys a relaxing ride on her beach cruiser and eating anything sweet. She’s also known for being sneaky good at shooting 3-pointers (cue the high school glory days), bowling, putt-putt, and ping-pong.
