Ever wonder what life was like back in the Medieval Times? History lessons are as close as we can get to really understanding the tales of knights, castles and epic battles. But there is a way to experience what it might have been like back then at an experience like no other, complete with themed costumes, majestic creatures, skilled and exhilarating routines, and all the pageantry fit for a queen!
The Medieval Times experience in Orlando (1 of 10 locations in the U.S. and Canada) brings it all to life through an impressive performance by six noble knights battling to protect their castles.

A large drawbridge welcomes you into the castle where you are crowned with the colors of your kingdom. Before the show, you can walk through the Hall of Arms and check out medieval artifacts, suits of armor, swords, and more. There is quite a bit to see and purchase including royal swag, toy swords, helmets, and beverages (adult and kid-friendly). There are plenty of photo opportunities before and during the show.

The final royal announcement prompts guests to their kingdom to witness the knights sword fighting, jousting, javelin throwing, ring piercing, and flag tossing — all while mounted atop gorgeous horses known for their strength, sprinting, and dressage movements. The Andalusian horses were prized by Spanish royalty and can be seen in the show, along with Queen Maria Isabella and Lord Marshal who have key roles in the story.
There is no bad seat in the castle, and you will feel close to the action, which lasts about two hours. Each knight works the crowd to get their kingdoms fired up as fans adorn matching-colored crowns and wave around flags to show their support.
As the battle heats up, a medieval four-course feast is served, and it is delicious. Garlic bread is served with a bowl of tomato bisque soup, followed by a plate of roasted chicken, corn on the cob, potatoes, and dessert. The wait staff is also in character addressing us as “my lady” and “my lord.” To-go boxes are provided as the servings are huge and vegan/special diet options are available. If you prefer eating with silverware, I suggest you bring your own because there wasn’t any silverware back in the day, and there isn’t here either!
My 6-year-old son stood the entire show and never put down his flag — he was glued to the field the entire time to see which knight would be victorious. It must have been all his cheering because our knight was the last one standing which brought on huge roars from our castle (and our family).

There is one part of the show where a royal falcon is released and flies around the crowd — both spectacular and unexpected. Don’t tell the kids, as they will freak out like mine did!
The castle was electric; the energy never stopped. We were all standing on our feet cheering at one point or another. It was a lot of fun and great for all ages! Plus, you learn a little something about life back in the Medieval Times.
