Oh no, not another Black History Month article. Except, hear me out — this one isn’t about the same names and stories we hear every February.
This is about something that exists that everyone can be a part of 365 days a year: supporting Black-owned businesses right here in Jacksonville. Because celebrating Black culture, entrepreneurship, and excellence shouldn’t be confined to just one month.
Jacksonville is full of incredible Black-owned businesses that bring flavor, creativity, and community to our city. Whether you’re in the mood for an indulgent meal, a sweet treat, or a place to grab coffee and connect, there’s a spot for you. Arble Baking Company (Northside): Arble Baking Company is a family-owned bakery that takes pastries to another level and specializes in cookies, cupcakes, and pies. 6765 Dunn Avenue
Café Résistance Bookstore & Coffee Shop (Northside): Café Résistance is a Black-owned indie bookstore and café, serving up coffee and bites, alongside books and gifts that celebrate diverse voices. 1104 Edgewood Avenue South

Mixed Fillings Pie Shop: If you haven’t had a slice from Mixed Fillings, you’re missing out on some of the best pies in the city. Creative flavors, buttery crust, and a whole lot of love baked into every bite. 440 West Adams Street

Jacksonville’s Black business scene is thriving, and there are still so many places I have on my bucket list. Here are several more places — some I’ve been to and others I really want to check out. Let’s build this directory together!
