Let’s face it, we’re not getting any younger. If there is one thing to be mindful of as we age gracefully, it’s our skin.
Having a great skincare regimen is the only way you can keep your face looking fresh and young. Do your homework and find good products that actually work. It’s also really important to have your skin “attended to.” Depending on your type of skin, having a good facial can make all the difference.
I recently took a couple of hours out of my day to visit Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery. Don’t let the name throw you off. While Ponte Vedra Plastic Surgery is a medical facility offering surgical options, it also has a full team of Aestheticians that offer full-service skincare in addition to make-up consultation.
PVPS is designed to have a spa-like feel for all services, so when you walk in, you know you are going to be pampered.
The Signature Facial
I met with Christine Weber who has 20 years of skincare experience. Before we got started she asked me questions and evaluated my skin. We talked about the products I used and my daily regimen. We also talked about prevention and how I can be proactive about taking care of my skin.
The facial itself was amazing. Lots of massaging, scrubs, and even extraction. It was what I would expect from any resort-style spa including the beautiful room and spa music. Christine was amazing and definitely made my me-time worth every minute.
Prevention
I’m not going to lie, I’ll be 29 this year (I mean 39). So age spots and wrinkles are a huge concern for me. I asked Christine a TON of questions. Did I ask about ongoing services that will reduce spots and wrinkles, absolutely. Did I ask about surgical options?? You bet I did. While non-surgical solutions are probably my best choice now, who’s to say I won’t ever want to explore surgery. If it’s something that crosses your mind, it’s worth looking into, and Christine was very helpful with my concerns.
That’s what I am MOST impressed with at PVPS. It’s not just another spa where you go in and get pampered for an hour (which you do), but it’s also about education. Letting their clients know what services are available, and having the best services to choose from.
What I really took from my visit is that I have options. There are many non-surgical options for removing dark spots and wrinkles, including the Parisian Peel which is microdermabrasion that uses a directed stream of micro-crystals, combined with vacuum to rejuvenate the skin. Next on my list for sure.
I also looked into the SkinPen. PVPS just started using this and it is hailed as the newest breakthrough in anti-aging. This is performed by the Aesthetician, not a surgeon! The results are supposed to be noticeable right away, which is always a plus. I personally would give this a try to tighten up my skin where I see wrinkles. But it’s not just for wrinkles. The SkinPen can treat acne scarring, hyper-pigmentation, sun damage and stretch marks, so can be used other places besides your face!
And I didn’t forget Botox. It is not off the table and I just want to know more. Don’t be surprised if you see an invite to a JMB Botox party. Even if you are just curious, it’s worth asking the right questions and choosing what’s best for you.
Your Turn!
So you don’t have time for a facial? Make time. If you only get in for a facial twice a year, all you’ve got to count on is your products, so make sure they are great. PVPS carries the best of the best; Obagi and Skinceuticals, which is an all natural product with great results. They also carry Colorescience which the best natural mineral makeup you can buy.
