FREE Lunch at the Library for All Jacksonville Kids

School’s out and summer is in full swing — and feeding our kids all the lunches and endless snacks can be downright exhausting. And EXPENSIVE!

Enter Summer BreakSpot, a federally funded program in Florida established to fill the summer hunger gap, allowing various local organizations to serve nutritious meals to all children 18 and under while school is out, now through August 2, 2024.

ALL kids can take advantage of this amazing program. Want to get the kids out of the house but don’t want to spend $40 at Chick-fil-A or McDonald’s? Hit up a Summer BreakSpot location — trust us, the amazing volunteers will be thrilled to feed your kids a wholesome meal, which includes protein, grains, fruit or veggie, and a drink. No sign-up is needed, you and your children can simply show up during meal times to receive a healthy meal, completely free!

Most spots serve lunch, but depending on the location, breakfast and snacks may also be offered. Local BreakSpots include elementary schools, community centers, and branches of the Jacksonville Public Library. Meals are served Monday through Friday, with lunch being served during a one-hour time block.

Find a Summer BreakSpot using their online interactive map or text FOOD to 304-304 for location information. Jacksonville Public Library locations are especially convenient because kids can also participate in summer activities such as storytimes, crafts, and other summer learning opportunities — or check out some good books!

My kids loved having lunch at the Pablo Creek Regional Library while reading some books!
