Private Full Time Islamic School. Al-Furqan Academy was established in August of 1997 by some of the same founding members of ICNEF (Islamic Center of Northeast Florida). They saw the immense need for an Islamic Elementary School in the city of Jacksonville, and they acted upon it. First, written plans were formulated, classrooms were established within the Masjid, staff was recruited and numerous other plans and procedures developed. Angelina Danese Park is located in south Jacksonville, at the intersection of Danese Court and St. Augustine Road. The site comprised part of the Philips community that was established in the last half of the 1800’s. Alexander and Angelina Danese, who arrived in America as immigrants from Italy in 1885, had twelve children following their marriage in 1898. The couple established their home on the park property in 1929, and after their deaths the children wanted to honor their parents’ memory. Their son Emanuel Danese, and his wife Mary Margaret, later donated the property to the city in 1973 for use as a passive public park – in honor of his parents and with the stipulation that it be named for his mother. But the site remained a vacant tract until the city, with the aid of City Councilmen Matt Carlucci and Reggie Fullwood, developed the property as a neighborhood park, which opened in March 2003.

St. Nicholas Playground is located adjacent to Spring Park Road in the St. Nicholas/Spring Park section of Jacksonville. Following City land purchases in 1936 and 1937, the park was created and originally named Spring Park, and was expanded by additional land acquisitions in 1944. I specialize in baby + child portraiture because some of the most precious photographs I have are those of my mother when she was a child. She died in 2015, and all that are left are the photos. I know that when I have children, and they have children, I’ll still have those photographs of her to show them.
Choosing a photographer is not an easy task; it seems now that anyone can buy a camera and become a photographer. And there’s nothing wrong with that! I was once a novice, too. While most of these photographers might be less expensive, they are also less experienced. Safety is my biggest concern when photographing your precious baby. The Town of Orange Park Farmer’s and Arts’ Market was created in September 2012. The market is run by The Town of Orange Park Events and Recreation Division. We have grown tremendously since our opening day. We now have over 100 vendors on a regular basis that offer a variety of homemade and homegrown products from local merchants, live entertainment, food on-site, and a great family atmosphere!
When is the market held? The market is held on most 1st and 3rd Sunday’s of each month from 11am-4pm. Some Sunday’s we’re closed due to special events or holidays. Our season runs from September through May and we are closed June, July, and August.
Where is the market located? The market is located on the busy corner of US17 and Kingsley Ave. 2042 Park Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073. This is an outdoor market and sometimes due to inclement weather the market may be closed. Just look for the large yellow signs!
What can you expect to find at the market? We offer a huge variety of quality handmade and homegrown items. You will find nearly anything your heart desires from locally grown honey, cupcakes, pies, salsa, granola, plants, produce, raw milk, eggs, cheeses, hand crafted jewelry, bird houses, pottery pieces, didgeridoos, soaps, and many many more handcrafted items!
Where do I park? Due to the success of our market, parking can, unfortunately, be problematic. We suggest parking at CVS/Winn Dixie and using the pedestrian crosswalks to enter the market. There is also parking at Town Hall off of US 17 and Smith St and Kingsley Ave- both of these areas offer limited parking.
How do I become a vendor? All vendors are required to fill out an application. Applications can be found on our website click here or you can pick up an application at Town Hall or our booth at the market.

Timuquana Park is located in the Timuquana Manor neighborhood of southwest Jacksonville, just east of bustling Roosevelt Boulevard. The community was platted in 1942, mostly to provide housing for personnel at the nearby Jacksonville Naval Air Station. The plat dedicates the park property to public use. The name Timuquana derives from the native Indians, the Timuquas, who were living in the area when the first Europeans arrived in the sixteenth century. In 2003, the Timuquana Manor area has established one of the most successful Neighborhood Watch Programs (for crime) in Jacksonville. City officials highly praised Mrs. Alice Turknett, a resident who lives near the park, for her leadership in the program.
Coach Sally’s Swim & Learn is designed to teach swimming and water safety to ages 6 months to adult. The American Red Cross guidelines are the basis for teaching participants to swim independently on top of the water. Safety in and around the water is stressed and taught in a Christian environment.
Group class sizes are limited to four participants to promote hands-on teaching and practice assistance during the lesson. Group classes are one-week 45 minute-session per day, May through mid-August.

The Ortega Hills Playground is located in the Ortega Hills area across from the Jacksonville Naval Air Station. The name Ortega derives from Joseph de Ortega, a judge during the second Spanish occupation of Florida from 1783-1821. In 1804, when John McIntosh bought the plantation that is present-day Ortega, he named it for the judge who facilitated his purchase of the property. Development of Ortega Hills began in 1954, and Devco Inc. donated the land for the park to Duval County in 1959. In recent years the local Community Association, led by its tireless founder Charles Zilla, lobbied for a new park that resulted in a major renovation in 2001. Park usage then increased dramatically, as people rushed to use the new facilities, which included landscaping and a walking/jogging trail around the perimeter.

Program Offered:
Lone Star is a tuition-free public high school that operates two sessions per day – morning and afternoon. Students have the opportunity to enroll in the four-hour session that best fits their personal schedule so they have the flexibility to earn a quality education while working, caring for family, or managing other commitments.
Once enrolled, the school works with the student to create a personalized academic plan to graduate, and immediately helps the student to start earning credits as his/her own pace. Courses are computer-based to help the student to focus and track progress, and certified teachers provide individualized support.
The school serves ages 16 to 21. Graduation ceremonies are held in June.
There is no cost to attend. All programs are free.

The mission of The Jericho School (non profit 501(c) 3 corporation) is to provide comprehensive, individualized science-based education not otherwise available in our community. We believe those children with autism and other developmental delays deserve the opportunity to reach their full potential. The school’s curriculum provides effective treatment and education programs to children and their families based on Applied Behavior Analysis and Verbal Behavior.
The Community Outreach Program allows The Jericho School to provide parents and other community members access to training and education training free of charge. The program increases parents’ and service providers’ knowledge, skills and abilities for working with children with autism; teaching specific skills, reducing inappropriate behaviors and developing language skills.
The Program includes a free 2-Day Workshop to provide parents and caregivers training in the best practices in working with children with autism. Education is provided on the basic principles of Applied Behavior Analysis and how to use Verbal Behavior in Teaching Language to Children with Autism and other Developmental Disabilities.
A free consultation and assessment is also provided for the parents participating in the Community Outreach Program to provide more individualized guidance and assistance in selecting appropriate goals for their child’s educational program.
