Community Connections Child Development Center

We serve low-income children from the residents of our Davis Center from six weeks to 5 years of age in our four-star, state-of-the-art program. Age appropriate activities encourage positive and healthy development. Our Center offers the new Voluntary Pre-Kindergarten (VPK); low teacher to children ratio, breakfast, lunch and afternoon snack provided at no additional cost.

After school programs are available at 5 sites including TEAM UP sites at Hyde Grove, Martin Luther King, Jr., and Oak Hill Elementary Schools; and four community based sites supervised homework assistance, tutoring programs, the NFL Play 60 physical fitness program; engaging field trips, and the Jaguars’ Honor Rows location.

Kona Skate Park was built in Jacksonville, Florida in the late ’70s, skaters from across the nation made the trek to the sprawling concrete mecca and helped shaped skateboarding to the way it is today.

We provide programs that benefit people with different abilities in our community and surrounding areas. Our newest program is designed to give people with special needs a place to show their many talents. Each individual will have the opportunity to be creative and show the community their love for music, singing, dancing, acting, or fashion, just to name a few creative arts.

We want to help them bring out certain potentials within themselves. We are raising funds to set up a creator’s studio and Music venue where they can come learn and practice. We also want a space for music therapy as it: reduces anxiety and physical effects of stress, improves healing, can reduce depression and other symptoms in the elderly, helps to reduce symptoms of psychological disorders including schizophrenia, can help improves self-expression and communication

The Duval County Library offers Traveling Tales Kits available for check out from the Main Library in downtown Jacksonville for free. The kits include books, puppets, songs, craft ideas, snack recipes, a music CD, a DVD, and a flannel board story all related to a theme. The playground at J.P. Small Park was renamed in June 2007 to honor Eugene M. GLover. Musical Moments is an early childhood music studio. We proudly offer Kindermusik, the world’s leading provider of music and movement programs for children birth thru age 7. Florida C. Dwight Memorial Playground is located in the La Villa section near downtown Jacksonville, just west of Interstate 95. While prior musical training is not necessary to participate, an audition is required for singers in grades 2-12. To ensure that we are keeping your health and safety our top priority, auditions can be scheduled virtually or in-person with social distancing and a mask required. There is no fee to audition. Need-based scholarships are available.

FIRST COAST FUTSAL ACADEMY  designs its futsal programs targeting players of all levels. We create a learning environment that focuses on building skills, confidence and encouraging creativity while enhancing a players’ passion for the game. The priority of our Futsal clinics is to work on players’ individual skills that coaches are not able to teach during team practices.

Futsal is a variant of association football played on a hard court, smaller than a football pitch, and mainly indoors. It has similarities to five-a-side football. Futsal is played between two teams of five players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper.
