While prior musical training is not necessary to participate, an audition is required for singers in grades 2-12. To ensure that we are keeping your health and safety our top priority, auditions can be scheduled virtually or in-person with social distancing and a mask required. There is no fee to audition. Need-based scholarships are available.

Jacksonville Girls High School Rugby team is open to all girls 14-19 from all schools and homeschooling. No try outs or experience is necessary. The team strives to teach the girls a new sport, team work and build self confidence.

St. Nicholas Playground is located adjacent to Spring Park Road in the St. Nicholas/Spring Park section of Jacksonville. Following City land purchases in 1936 and 1937, the park was created and originally named Spring Park, and was expanded by additional land acquisitions in 1944. The St. Nicholas Park and Home Park subdivisions were developed near the park in the late 1930’s to meet the housing needs of Jacksonville’s growing middle class, and the Spring Park Elementary School opened adjacent to the park in 1942. The playground became a popular site for games of the City’s baseball leagues. In recent years the Spring Park Neighborhood Association and St. Nicholas Area Preservation have taken an active role in the maintenance and welfare of the facility, which contains a walking/jogging trail completed in 1999.

Baymeadows Regional Park has a nice playground, soccer fields, and walking path around the lake.

The 9A/Baymedows Regional Park site is situated between Baymeadows Road East and State Road 9A in southeast Jacksonville. The City purchased the 52-acre parcel from Disston Ranch in June 2002. Volunteer representatives from neighborhoods in the area, known as Baywatch, intent is to keep an eye on the development, growth, transportation, zoning, and parks and recreation issues relating to the area. Baywatch has had a significant role in the planning and funding for the Park in their coordination with Councilmember Graham and the Mayor’s Office. In December 2003, the Master Plan of the Regional Park was completed. Phase I development of the Soccer fields, infrastructure, playground, pavilions, and restrooms are open to the public by January 2008. Future Phase II will include the construction of the Baseball Fields, Fishing Pier, and Tennis Courts.

The JCA Aquatics Department is committed to the development of swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Swimming is a lifetime activity, focusing on the enjoyment, health benefits and competition. The JCA Aquatics Department offers private swim lessons for all ages, while offering group swim lessons for children. Youth and teens are eligible to swim in our YR swim team program or can participate in various specialty aquatic programs. Aqua aerobics, swim team, and swim lessons keep adults of all ages in the water. The JCA boasts both an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a steam room, sauna and whirlpool. The non-profit organization was established in 2001 to provide child protective services in Duval County, and was expanded to also serve Nassau County in 2007.

Lone Star is a tuition-free public high school that operates two sessions per day – morning and afternoon. Students have the opportunity to enroll in the four-hour session that best fits their personal schedule so they have the flexibility to earn a quality education while working, caring for family, or managing other commitments.

Once enrolled, the school works with the student to create a personalized academic plan to graduate, and immediately helps the student to start earning credits as his/her own pace. Courses are computer-based to help the student to focus and track progress, and certified teachers provide individualized support.

Crabtree Park is located in the Lakewood area, three blocks east of the intersection of San Jose Blvd. and University Blvd. West. Walter Crabtree developed the entire Lakewood area between 1946 and 1961, some of it around picturesque New Ross Creek that meanders through the northwest section. He conveyed the land for the park to Duval County in several deeds between 1957 and 1963. For over fifty years, Walter R. Crabtree (1899-1993) was a real estate developer and builder in Duval County. He operated his own lumber company, and built the Lakewood Apartments across from the park. Through the years, sports have been the main activity at Crabtree Park: organized youth baseball/softball games and pickup basketball games.

Dance…It’s What We Do! Ballet Arts Centre is Jacksonville’s premiere dance studio, educating area dancers for over 50 years. Currently, under the direction of Sydney Keister, BAC offers technique classes in Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Modern, Hip-Hop, and Acrobatics, as well as Tiny Dancer and Adult Classes. St. Nicholas Playground is located adjacent to Spring Park Road in the St. Nicholas/Spring Park section of Jacksonville. Following City land purchases in 1936 and 1937, the park was created and originally named Spring Park, and was expanded by additional land acquisitions in 1944. The St. Nicholas Park and Home Park subdivisions were developed near the park in the late 1930’s to meet the housing needs of Jacksonville’s growing middle class, and the Spring Park Elementary School opened adjacent to the park in 1942. The playground became a popular site for games of the City’s baseball leagues. In recent years the Spring Park Neighborhood Association and St. Nicholas Area Preservation have taken an active role in the maintenance and welfare of the facility, which contains a walking/jogging trail completed in 1999.

She received her Bachelors of Fine Arts in Photography, graduating Magna Cum Laude, at the University of North Florida. Although Jessie main focus has been old fashion photography, she has been working with digital cameras photographing young dancers and gymnasts in the Jacksonville community.
