Jeff Galloway’s Marathon Training Programs are for all levels of runners, from beginning runners to Boston qualifiers. The Jacksonville Galloway Training Program meets on Saturday mornings at various locations across the Jacksonville area, and follows Jeff Galloway’s training guidelines to get you safely across the finish line of a half or full marathon if your goals are to finish, or to achieve a ‘PR’. Our group runs feature walking breaks at regular intervals based on your skill level. Pace groups (of usually 8-15) are set up according to current fitness level, and a Group Leader is assigned to keep the speed slow enough for all members, and to enforce walk breaks from the beginning to the end.
Running is more fun when running together, as each member is motivated to run more often, and stay injury free. As you share stories, (gossip, issues) and pull one another along, the miles go by much more quickly. Lifelong friendships are formed in these mission-oriented, but laid back groups. The JCA Aquatics Department is committed to the development of swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Swimming is a lifetime activity, focusing on the enjoyment, health benefits and competition. The JCA Aquatics Department offers private swim lessons for all ages, while offering group swim lessons for children. Youth and teens are eligible to swim in our YR swim team program or can participate in various specialty aquatic programs. Private Full Time Islamic School. Al-Furqan Academy was established in August of 1997 by some of the same founding members of ICNEF (Islamic Center of Northeast Florida). They saw the immense need for an Islamic Elementary School in the city of Jacksonville, and they acted upon it. Angelina Danese Park is located in south Jacksonville, at the intersection of Danese Court and St. Augustine Road. The site comprised part of the Philips community that was established in the last half of the 1800’s. Alexander and Angelina Danese, who arrived in America as immigrants from Italy in 1885, had twelve children following their marriage in 1898. The couple established their home on the park property in 1929, and after their deaths the children wanted to honor their parents’ memory. Their son Emanuel Danese, and his wife Mary Margaret, later donated the property to the city in 1973 for use as a passive public park – in honor of his parents and with the stipulation that it be named for his mother. But the site remained a vacant tract until the city, with the aid of City Councilmen Matt Carlucci and Reggie Fullwood, developed the property as a neighborhood park, which opened in March 2003.

The Jacksonville Junior Volleyball Association is a North Florida youth sport association founded by three area coaches in 1989 for the purpose of promoting the sport of volleyball for school age students in the city and surrounding areas. I specialize in baby + child portraiture because some of the most precious photographs I have are those of my mother when she was a child. She died in 2015, and all that are left are the photos. JCC offers an exciting and unique music experience for children who have a passion for singing. The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is beginning its new season on September 15th, 2020. Please encourage your aspiring singers to audition with us for the upcoming season if they are interested in enhancing their music education and opportunities.

While prior musical training is not necessary to participate, an audition is required for singers in grades 2-12. To ensure that we are keeping your health and safety our top priority, auditions can be scheduled virtually or in-person with social distancing and a mask required. There is no fee to audition. Need-based scholarships are available.

Program Offered:

Lone Star is a tuition-free public high school that operates two sessions per day – morning and afternoon. Students have the opportunity to enroll in the four-hour session that best fits their personal schedule so they have the flexibility to earn a quality education while working, caring for family, or managing other commitments.

Once enrolled, the school works with the student to create a personalized academic plan to graduate, and immediately helps the student to start earning credits as his/her own pace. Courses are computer-based to help the student to focus and track progress, and certified teachers provide individualized support.

The school serves ages 16 to 21. Graduation ceremonies are held in June.

There is no cost to attend. All programs are free.

Students will get a unique opportunity to experience different styles of dance, theatre, and acting every day of the week in our program from 3 – 6 pm, and is available 3 or 5 days per week.

Veterans United Craft Brewery is a small, independent, veteran-owned and operated craft brewery located in Jacksonville, FL. The founder and Brewmaster, Ron Gamble, is a former Naval Flight Officer who flew jets from aircraft carriers and conducted missions over Iraq in the first Gulf War. Veterans United employs mostly veterans in the company with them holding positions in brewery operations, accounting, sales, and taproom staff. Additionally, the brewery’s goal is to raise awareness and appreciation of veterans and members of our active duty military to help recognize their service and sacrifice.
Veterans United Craft Brewery supports many veteran, military and non-military organizations. Organizations that the brewery has worked with include the USO, the Navy League, the Matthew Freeman Project, K9s for Warriors, Wreaths Across America, Luke’s Wings, Kongs for K9s drive for Military Working Dog Teams Support Assoc., Heroes Betterment (Care Packages), The Dawg Project, Cystic Fibrosis, MS Society, Florida Service Dogs, the Jed Fund (TAILS and the Pit Sisters), Jacksonville Zoo – Brew at the Zoo, Jacksonville Humane Society, We Ride to Provide (police K9s), and K9s United.

Landon Park playground is nestled right in beautiful San Marco. The park has many large trees offering shade for play.

Deerwood Rotory Park is a great playground for the little ones because of the soft ground surrounding several playstructures. There are also covered picnic tables.

At Earth Works, we have been making beautiful outdoor spaces come alive for over 31 years. We have a fun and unique nursery, we offer landscaping, pond building, lawn maintenance & fertilization, irrigation, drainage, landscape design, fire pits and paver patios, walkways, and driveways.
