Jacksonville Children’s Chorus (Grades 2-12) – Auditioning Now for the Fall Semester of the 2020-21 Season!

JCC offers an exciting and unique music experience for children who have a passion for singing. The Jacksonville Children’s Chorus is beginning its new season on September 15th, 2020. Please encourage your aspiring singers to audition with us for the upcoming season if they are interested in enhancing their music education and opportunities.

While prior musical training is not necessary to participate, an audition is required for singers in grades 2-12. To ensure that we are keeping your health and safety our top priority, auditions can be scheduled virtually or in-person with social distancing and a mask required. There is no fee to audition. Need-based scholarships are available.

Auditions are quick and simple. There is no need to have a prepared audition piece.

Wilma’s Little People’s School was founded in 1973 by Dr. Kay Johnson in order to give students in Jacksonville University’s early childhood courses an opportunity to work with young children. Jacksonville FC has been established since 1977 and consists of 3 main programs – recreational, academy and travel (KYX) teams for players aged U5-U19. The recreational program spans all age groups and is for player development and enjoyment of the game. The academy program offers both developmental academy (U6-U12) and travel academy (U9-U12). The goal is to provide age-appropriate technical and tactical training in a positive learning environment. The Advanced program (U13-U18) places players in a competitive training and playing environment that challenges them to reach the highest levels of play. JFC travel programs have 35 teams who participate in regional, state and premiere leagues.

Concord Park is located in the in the Lake Forest section of northwest Jacksonville, near the intersection of Edgewood Avenue and U.S. Interstate 95. After filing of the first plat in 1926, it was not until around 1944 that development began again in Lake Forest, whose streets and parks exhibit an American Revolutionary War theme. Concord Park is one of two half-oval parks that were named and platted by the developers in 1944. Battles at Lexington and Concord, Massachusetts on April 19, 1775 between the colonial Minutemen and the British redcoats marked the beginning of the War. Through the years, the park has remained a small, neighborhood facility with play equipment for the children, and a major improvement project in 1999 added picnic facilities, new benches, and a water fountain. With several towering pine trees providing shade and visual relief, the park offers a place for fellowship and relaxation.

In April 2000, Bob Hayes Sports Complex became a reality when the City purchased an adjacent parcel to Lonnie Miller Regional Park from the Diocese of St. Augustine for $175,000 (OR 9610 pg. 1347), subject to an easement for underground utilities, access, and other terms (OR 7330 pg. 1398).As of December 2004, funding has been approved for the $1.4 million project, which will be put out for bids as soon as the latest revision of the plans is completed. To be known as the Bob Hayes Soccer Complex (or possibly Sports Complex), the facility will include several youth soccer fields, a football field, a pavilion/concession building that will also contain restrooms and storage space, playground and picnic equipment, bleachers, sidewalks, an asphalt trail, parking, a retention pond, irrigation, sewer/drainage facilities, and landscaping.

Pura Bean Coffee was founded on the principal of enjoying coffee and life. It all began after several excursions to Costa Rica where we fell in love with the local coffee and lifestyle. As raving fans we decided it would be fun to make our own coffee back home in Jacksonville, FL. Using our daughter’s popcorn popper we began learning the craft of roasting and creating blends of coffee for friends and family. Our obsession grew to roasting coffee for real in the back of our own shop, where we serve up specialty blends from all over the world and deliver to local retailers in our 1979 Orange VW Bus.
To this day we continue the pursuit of providing you that perfect cup, so you slow down, drink coffee and enjoy life!
