Crabtree Park is located in the Lakewood area, three blocks east of the intersection of San Jose Blvd. and University Blvd. West. Walter Crabtree developed the entire Lakewood area between 1946 and 1961, some of it around picturesque New Ross Creek that meanders through the northwest section. He conveyed the land for the park to Duval County in several deeds between 1957 and 1963. For over fifty years, Walter R. Crabtree (1899-1993) was a real estate developer and builder in Duval County. He operated his own lumber company, and built the Lakewood Apartments across from the park. Through the years, sports have been the main activity at Crabtree Park: organized youth baseball/softball games and pickup basketball games.

Cesery Park is located in Arlington’s Lake Lucina neighborhood, at the corner of Cesery Boulevard and Columbine Street. The park and boulevard are named for William R. Cesery (1912-1996), a pioneer developer of Arlington who started the trend of building larger apartment complexes in Jacksonville. About 1950, he purchased forty acres for his first subdivision, which took its name from a large water hole that he called Lake Lucina. General Trading Company, whose principals, D.W. and F.W. Tredinick, founded the Jax Liquor Store chain, donated the land for the park to Duval County in 1961. The County created a tot lot for children, and the City took over its operation following consolidation in 1968. A wooden pavilion and picnic tables were added to the park in 1996.

The JCA Aquatics Department is committed to the development of swimmers of all ages and skill levels. Swimming is a lifetime activity, focusing on the enjoyment, health benefits and competition. The JCA Aquatics Department offers private swim lessons for all ages, while offering group swim lessons for children. Youth and teens are eligible to swim in our YR swim team program or can participate in various specialty aquatic programs. Aqua aerobics, swim team, and swim lessons keep adults of all ages in the water. The JCA boasts both an indoor and outdoor pool, as well as a steam room, sauna and whirlpool. I have familiarity with speech (articulation), fluency (stuttering), apraxia, language disorders, dyslexia, phonological disorders, reading, AAC (augmentative or alternative communication) devices, social skills, independent living behavior and language, cleft palate, Autism spectrum disorders, cerebral palsy, low cognition, Down Syndrome, and some feeding and behavioral experience. I strive to learn from and creatively tailor my treatments to each child and family (every kid is different!).

This park is named after A. Philip Randolph who grew up in Jacksonville and became one of the most important figures of the Civil Rights Movement during the 1950s and 1960s. A life-size bronze statue of Olympic Gold Medallist and Dallas Cowboy star, Bob Hayes, was added to the park in November 2002. Hayes grew up in Jacksonville, less than a mile from the park. The Jacksonville Junior Volleyball Association is a North Florida youth sport association founded by three area coaches in 1989 for the purpose of promoting the sport of volleyball for school age students in the city and surrounding areas. These coaches were Mary Andrew (Former Head Coach, FSCJ), Elise Bush (Head Coach, The Bolles School), and Brandy King (Former Head Coach, Mayport Middle School).

In the past 26 years this association has grown from 3 teams, 30 players, and 3 coaches, to 74 teams, over 500 players, and 70+ coaches.

Our mission is to promote the sport of volleyball, as well as health and fitness throughout Northeast Florida by providing educational training and competitive playing opportunities to players of all ages, backgrounds and skill levels.

DanceMania is now offering an after school dance and performing arts program with bus transportation from local designated schools. Classes will be offered in Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Hip-Hop, Acrobatics, Gymnastics, Musical Theatre, Acting, and more for 1st through 5th graders at beginning to intermediate levels. Students will get a unique opportunity to experience different styles of dance, theatre, and acting every day of the week in our program from 3 – 6 pm, and is available 3 or 5 days per week.
