Once enrolled, the school works with the student to create a personalized academic plan to graduate, and immediately helps the student to start earning credits at his/her own pace. I specialize in baby + child portraiture because some of the most precious photographs I have are those of my mother when she was a child. She died in 2015, and all that are left are the photos. I know that when I have children, and they have children, I’ll still have those photographs of her to show them.

Hope Haven has been serving the greater Jacksonville area for almost 100 years. We provide clinical services: neuropsychological testing (ADHD, ADD, Autism), mental health counseling (ages 3 through adult), and advocacy for families. When in Asia, we knew the best dishes were on the streets from hawker stalls. At home, we turned to parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles to get a fix from generations-old comfort food recipes. Finally, it hit us—we had to redefine “eating Asian” in the states. From day one, the food was at the core of Hawkers Asian Street Fare—generations of Asian street food recipes have been passed down, some of which are still served on the streets of Asia. But there had to be more. We wanted to build a restaurant that would tell the story of the hawker experience in a subtle and design-conscious way. We wanted great drinks to pair with great food. A comprehensive pediatric eye exam can diagnose many different vision disorders. Some of the more common eye conditions in children are: Your child may be nearsighted (myopia), farsighted (hyperopia) or have astigmatism. It is important that children who need glasses, wear them full time when they are young to develop good vision in each eye and three-dimensional vision. Dr. Schnipper and Dr. Brown offer comprehensive Eye Exams for children of all ages.

During your child’s comprehensive eye exam, visual acuity will be tested. This test measures the smallest object each eye can see at a certain distance. Normally, each eye will be done individually by covering one eye at a time. It may be necessary to tape a patch over a child’s eye to keep him from peeking. There are two types of charts used when testing children’s visions.

The use of the Snellen chart is the most common way to test visual acuity. This chart letters and numbers that decrease in size. When taking the test, the distance between the patient and the chart is 20 feet. 20/20 vision is normal. If a person has 20/40 vision, they see at twenty feet what a normal eye sees at forty feet. If a person has 20/200 vision, they are legally blind. They only see at twenty feet what a normal eye sees at two hundred feet. If they have 20/15 vision, they see better than normal. They see at twenty feet what the normal eye would have to bring in to fifteen feet to see.

For children that do not know letters and numbers, they can be tested with the Tumbling E chart. To take this test, the child points his/her finger in the same direction as the E is pointing. Children who are younger than four may have trouble with this test so there are several different tests used to obtain a child’s accurate visual acuity.

Our doughnuts and glazes are all handmade from scratch in small batches throughout the day so your doughnut is delicious and fresh whenever you stop in.  And we use only the best ingredients–real, high quality butter, eggs, milk–you get the idea. We also seek out local partners who can offer exceptional ingredients.

We have about a dozen different rotating doughnuts on our menu plus doughnut sandwiches we lovingly call “doughwiches.”  We serve raised/yeast doughnuts, old-fashioneds, chocolate old-fashioneds and cake doughnuts. Our goal is to highlight seasonal and exciting flavors our baking team dreams up.

We now offer vegan doughnuts on Friday until sell out. Why only on Fridays you ask? Well, our kitchen space is limited and we want to make sure our vegan doughnuts are not just called vegan but are truly being made vegan. Only offering them on Fridays ensures there will not be any non vegan menu items fried in the oil before them. So come in on Friday and let us know what you think!

Pinot’s Palette is the new paint studio located in Jacksonville’s Town Center. In addition to our regular adult classes, we offer a variety of different classes for all ages.

Our kid’s classes (“little brushes”) allows kids to create a fun piece of artwork to take home! On Family days, the whole family can spend time together creating a painting. We also offer mommy-and-me (or daddy-and-me) classes, which is similar to family day but offers more one on one time for the parents and children. Simply check out our calendar for these kid friendly classes offered several times per month!

St. Nicholas Playground is located adjacent to Spring Park Road in the St. Nicholas/Spring Park section of Jacksonville. Following City land purchases in 1936 and 1937, the park was created and originally named Spring Park, and was expanded by additional land acquisitions in 1944. The St. Nicholas Park and Home Park subdivisions were developed near the park in the late 1930’s to meet the housing needs of Jacksonville’s growing middle class, and the Spring Park Elementary School opened adjacent to the park in 1942. The playground became a popular site for games of the City’s baseball leagues. In recent years the Spring Park Neighborhood Association and St. Nicholas Area Preservation have taken an active role in the maintenance and welfare of the facility, which contains a walking/jogging trail completed in 1999.
