The Green Team Project (GTP) is a grassroots environmental non-profit project of the Tides Center whose focus is to empower and motivate people to make a difference environmentally through their own practices.

We are dedicated to changing long-term consumption behavior, increasing environmental awareness and stewardship, creating a greater sense of community, improving the quality of life, and having fun.

Green Team Project has educational programs for every member of the community. Through Green Teams, individuals, businesses, schools, and other organizations turn good intentions into concrete positive environmental action. The average graduate of a Green Team saves between 10-30% in each of the five resource areas: water, energy, solid waste, chemicals, and transportation, as well as a fair amount of money.

By using the team process our participants have the support and motivation they need to follow through on conservation actions, learn new things, and adopt long-lasting environmental habits.

The STEAM Cultural Passport is a Duval County program that provides students in Title I elementary schools with three to four educational field trips per year. These field trip experiences are connected to programs and offerings in Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts, and Mathematics. Organizations are selected through an application process, and events are scheduled according to available services to schools. The program is currently funded through federal dollars and provides cultural experiences to students, most of whom would not otherwise receive these kinds of opportunities.

During each trip, the students will board a St. Johns River Taxi boat from Friendship Fountain Park for a 2-hour tour of the river. While on board, they will rotate through a series of educational activities that correlate to state standards and focus on river science.

Students will learn to use water quality monitoring equipment, gather and interpret water quality data, record observational data on manatees and dolphins in the St. Johns River, examine river plants and animals for adaptations that enable them to thrive in the river ecosystem, and use their water quality data and what they learn on the trips to make predictions about the future of the St. Johns River.

Jax Stroller Strength lets moms workout with their kids and gives them a chance to connect with other mothers. Bootcamp style classes are offered every day of the week at the Beaches, Mandarin, Riverside and Nocatee locations. Confederate Playground is located near downtown, in the Springfield section of north Jacksonville. First named Dignan Park, for a chairman of the Board of Public Works, it opened in 1907 and contained the City’s first supervised playground. We provide programs that benefit people with different abilities in our community and surrounding areas. Our newest program is designed to give people with special needs a place to show their many talents. Each individual will have the opportunity to be creative and show the community their love for music, singing, dancing, acting, or fashion, just to name a few creative arts.

We want to help them bring out certain potentials within themselves. We are raising funds to set up a creator’s studio and Music venue where they can come learn and practice. We also want a space for music therapy as it: reduces anxiety and physical effects of stress, improves healing, can reduce depression and other symptoms in the elderly, helps to reduce symptoms of psychological disorders including schizophrenia, can help improves self-expression and communication

In April 2000, Bob Hayes Sports Complex became a reality when the City purchased an adjacent parcel to Lonnie Miller Regional Park from the Diocese of St. Augustine for $175,000 (OR 9610 pg. 1347), subject to an easement for underground utilities, access, and other terms (OR 7330 pg. 1398).As of December 2004, funding has been approved for the $1.4 million project, which will be put out for bids as soon as the latest revision of the plans is completed. Landon Park playground is nestled right in beautiful San Marco. The park has many large trees offering shade for play.

This park is named after A. Philip Randolph who grew up in Jacksonville and became one of the most important figures of the Civil Rights Movement during the 1950s and 1960s. A life-size bronze statue of Olympic Gold Medallist and Dallas Cowboy star, Bob Hayes, was added to the park in November 2002. Hayes grew up in Jacksonville, less than a mile from the park. owner and brewer Ben Davis. Specializing in small-batch handcrafted ales, Intuition’s mission is to create quality, flavorful and creative beers in a wide range of styles. In February 2012, Intuition Ale Works became the first craft brewery in the state of Florida to can its beers and currently packages five brands: the flagship People’s Pale Ale, Jon Boat Coast Ale, I-10 IPA, King Street Stout and Easy on the Eyes. These core brands are distributed throughout the state of Florida by Champion Brands (Jacksonville/Northeast Florida) Burkhart Sales & Service (Gainesville and surrounding areas), Tri-Eagle Sales (Tallahassee), J.J. Taylor (Tampa/Central Florida) and Florida Distributing Co. (Orlando). In September 2016, Intuition completed a large expansion project and is enjoying its new, state of the art brewing facility and taproom in downtown Jacksonville.

Preschool:  Ballet/Tap combination with acrobatics. These classes are available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 2:45-3:45 p.m. (Please note on the contract if you prefer a certain day.)     

Kindergarten:  Ballet/Tap combination with acrobatics. 

First through 4th grades may sign up for Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Acrobatics.  Remember, each class is separate with their own recital dance and costume.  For example; if your child takes all 4 disciplines they will have 4 costumes.  First grade does not have a recital dance for acrobatics therefore would not have a costume for that class. 

Fifth through 12th grades may sign up for Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Pointe, and Acrobatics. Pointe class must be with approval.  Ballet and Pointe are two separate classes.  You must take Ballet in order to take Pointe.  There is however one costume for the two classes.  The recital dance is learned during the Ballet Technique class when both Pointe and Ballet students are present.

Mod Style Lab is the creation and vision of Hair Stylist Tina Krinhop. She sought to bring Jacksonville a contemporary space that was welcoming and fun, and offered the best hair services in town. Tina is an award winning Stylist that has been featured in television, print, and numerous fashion events.

Gyminators Gymnastics opened its doors in May of 2003 to provide the youth of this area an opportunity to develop strength, flexibility and coordination through the sport of gymnastics. Our facility provides the ultimate atmosphere to develop these skills as well as a healthy mental and emotional attitude by making exercise fun.

We feel the professionalism of our staff and the growth of our facility has a great impact on the children in our community. Our staff is professionally trained in the sport of gymnastics as well as providing a safe environment. Our head coaching staff members are USA Safety Certified, Skill Evaluators and professional members of AAU and USA Gymnastics.

Our programs are designed for both boys and girls of all ages and skill levels. Our preschool programs include walking infants to 4-year-olds. While our Recreational program includes classes for ages 5 and up with different levels of advancement. Gyminators Gymnastics provides opportunities for children to advance as far as they desire.

In addition to talking about and encouraging the search of careers, Matthew Gilbert provides a Career Fair through out the year to show students the variety of professions out in the real world.

Amy & Ben Wright are the proud parents of four children — Lillie, Emma Grace, Beau and Bitty. Lillie was born with autism, and Bitty & Beau were born with Down syndrome.

With over 80% of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities unemployed nationwide, the Wrights believe that Bitty & Beau’s Coffee creates a path for people with disabilities to become more valued, accepted and included in every community.

The original shop opened January 2016 in Wilmington, NC, and employed 19 individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
