Pace groups (of usually 8-15) are set up according to current fitness level, and a Group Leader is assigned to keep the speed slow enough for all members, and to enforce walk breaks from the beginning to the end.
Running is more fun when running together, as each member is motivated to run more often, and stay injury free. As you share stories, (gossip, issues) and pull one another along, the miles go by much more quickly. Lifelong friendships are formed in these mission-oriented, but laid back groups. Davis Park has a small playground area nestled in a large sport complex consisting of 5 soccer fields, 3 football fields, 4 lighted softball fields, and 6 lighted Baseball field, two multipurpose baseball fields, one tee ball field. In order to join the Pawsitive Reading program, children AND at least one parent/guardian must first attend a one-time Pawsitive Reading orientation. We offer several orientations each month. Upcoming orientation dates and sign-up links are below. Advance registration is required.

Please note: We are unable to offer Pawsitive Reading orientations in June and July due to JHS Summer Camp.

Orientations will take place in either the JHS Education Center or Conference Room (both are located upstairs, above the Adoption Center). Our address is 8464 Beach Blvd. Please arrive on time. The orientation will be around 40 minutes in length.

After attending an orientation, children and an adult chaperone may come to JHS to read to the animals anytime our Adoption Center is open (12pm-7pm on weekdays, 10am-5pm on weekends). Participants must sign in and out at the front desk when visiting JHS to read.

To ensure that our animals benefit from the program, we ask that readers spend at least 30 minutes reading – there is no maximum time limit.

Children may read to either dogs or cats and may bring their reading materials or borrow books from our Pawsitive Reading library.

Participants will receive a free book courtesy of The Jim Moran Foundation while supplies are available.

The Jacksonville Humane Society provides care, comfort and compassion to animals in need while engaging the hearts, hands and minds of our community to bring about an end to the killing of abandoned and orphaned shelter animals.

DanceMania is now offering an after school dance and performing arts program with bus transportation from local designated schools. St. Nicholas Playground is located adjacent to Spring Park Road in the St. Nicholas/Spring Park section of Jacksonville. Following City land purchases in 1936 and 1937, the park was created and originally named Spring Park, and was expanded by additional land acquisitions in 1944. The St. Nicholas Park and Home Park subdivisions were developed near the park in the late 1930’s to meet the housing needs of Jacksonville’s growing middle class, and the Spring Park Elementary School opened adjacent to the park in 1942. The playground became a popular site for games of the City’s baseball leagues. In recent years the Spring Park Neighborhood Association and St. Nicholas Area Preservation have taken an active role in the maintenance and welfare of the facility, which contains a walking/jogging trail completed in 1999.

We have grown tremendously since our opening day. When is the market held? The market is held on most 1st and 3rd Sunday’s of each month from 11am-4pm. Some Sunday’s we’re closed due to special events or holidays. Our season runs from September through May and we are closed June, July, and August.

Where is the market located? The market is located on the busy corner of US17 and Kingsley Ave. 2042 Park Ave, Orange Park, FL 32073. This is an outdoor market and sometimes due to inclement weather the market may be closed. Just look for the large yellow signs!

What can you expect to find at the market? We offer a huge variety of quality handmade and homegrown items. You will find nearly anything your heart desires from locally grown honey, cupcakes, pies, salsa, granola, plants, produce, raw milk, eggs, cheeses, hand crafted jewelry, bird houses, pottery pieces, didgeridoos, soaps, and many many more handcrafted items!

Where do I park? Due to the success of our market, parking can, unfortunately, be problematic. We suggest parking at CVS/Winn Dixie and using the pedestrian crosswalks to enter the market. There is also parking at Town Hall off of US 17 and Smith St and Kingsley Ave- both of these areas offer limited parking.

How do I become a vendor? All vendors are required to fill out an application. Applications can be found on our website click here or you can pick up an application at Town Hall or our booth at the market.

We offer yoga classes 7 days a week. Varied Schedule including Sun Power Yoga, Mind~Body, Yogalates, and Yoga Basics. Yoga Den is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) with the Yoga Alliance and we offer 200 hour Teacher Training Programs.

Pediatric Associates of Jacksonville is a time-honored pediatric practice that is now led by Dr. Aylin Ozdemir. Affectionately referred to as Dr. “O” by her patients and staff, Dr. Ozdemir is passionate about providing an integrative approach to healthcare, which balances traditional medicine with complete nutrition, mindfulness, spirituality, and education.

Dr. “O,” along side her nurse practitioners, are devoted to providing high quality patient and family-centered care in one of their three locations, Ponte Vedra Beach, Hodges Blvd., and Julington Creek.

Private Full Time Islamic School. Al-Furqan Academy was established in August of 1997 by some of the same founding members of ICNEF (Islamic Center of Northeast Florida). They saw the immense need for an Islamic Elementary School in the city of Jacksonville, and they acted upon it. First, written plans were formulated, classrooms were established within the Masjid, staff was recruited and numerous other plans and procedures developed. The result is that today, we are a school of approximately 60 students ranging in ages from 3 years up to the fifth grade. We have a new playground built according to federal safety guidelines as well as a library with three new, networked computers for our student’s use. It is indeed a blessing for any community to have within its midst a school consisting of a diverse population of children, where a multitude of ethnic backgrounds, religions, as well as cultural differences coexist and flourish together.

The purpose and philosophy of Al-Furqan Academy is to please Allah (The Almighty) and to approach all issues with the guidance of the Holy Qur’an and the Sunnah of Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him). In addition, it is the vision of the Islamic Center of Northeast Florida and Al-Furqan Academy to enhance the lives of all children educationally, spiritually, and emotionally. InshaAllah (God willing), Al-Furqan Academy will:

Provide an Islamic environment that is conducive to learning for all students in an academically challenging program.

Provide a comprehensive program which benefits our students educational, physical, social, cognitive, and emotional needs, within the parameters of Islamic guidance enabling students to seek knowledge and success in this life and the Hereafter.

Provide a staff that is qualified, competent, and flexible enough to meet the needs of all students and who continuously upgrade their skills by attending various professional development workshops and courses.

To prepare all students with understanding and practicing the ideals of Islam so that they may become active, articulate, and productive members of the world community.

Cornerstone Classical Academy is a tuition-free classical charter school opening August 2020. CCA will begin K-6th grade and add a grade each year until 12th. We are located on 16+ acres on St. Johns Bluff Road in east Jacksonville, Florida. We exist to create a community of students who will develop and become well-rounded, life long learners with a passion for academic excellence. Our mission is to sharpen the minds and cultivate the hearts of students, through a content-rich classical education in the liberal arts and sciences, with instruction in the principles of moral character, civic virtue, and knowledge of truth.
