The Mandarin Museum and the 1898 St. Joseph’s Mission Schoolhouse for African-American Children are open every Saturday from 9-4 at Walter Jones Historical Park, 11964 Mandarin Rd. The museum features the Civil War steamship Maple Leaf which was sunk in the St. Johns River at Mandarin Point in 1864. On display are many artifacts recovered from the shipwreck, Civil War soldiers’ uniforms and an interactive exhibit about the diving operation that recovered the objects belonging to the soldiers. The historic schoolhouse is the last remaining one-room schoolhouse left in Duval County. While visiting, children can pick-up a park and museum scavenger hunt that helps them learn about important objects or sit in an old school desk and color or read a book, and learn about how different school was over 100 years ago. Following the visit to the museums, you will want to stroll the beautiful 10-acre Walter Jones Historical Park, walk along the St. Johns River on the boardwalk and imagine being dropped back in time to a quiet life of the early 1900s. Picnic tables and restrooms are available.

Soccer Shots is a program offered to children ages 2-8 that meets once a week at daycare centers, preschools, elementary schools, parks, communities and churches throughout the city to introduce your child to soccer. Early Learning Center strives to provide the highest standards of educational excellence within a Christ-centered preschool environment. Beach ELC provides both part-time and full-day options for children 18 months through VPK, 4 years of age.

The most important period of learning for a child is from birth to the age of six. Beach ELC uses the WEE Learn curriculum as a guide to help each child reach his or her full potential spiritually, socially, physically, emotionally, and academically. Our program is developmentally conscious and provides a place where children can learn and grow in a positive, Christian environment. The ELC is a private, licensed preschool and a ministry of Beach Church.

We offer safety courses such as Community CPR/AED, Basic First Aid, Child & Babysitting Safety, Basic Life Support, Private Swim Lessons, Bloodborne Pathogens, Women’s Safety & Self-Defense, AED sales and Safety Talks & Demos.

Individuals can register for lessons via our website and we can also be hired to do private custom courses with groups and businesses.

Saltwater Cowgirls offers private and group lessons for all, male and female. Private lessons provide a focused, one-on-one type of learning experience. This is a great way to personalize your training and receive dedicated attention and feedback from an experienced Saltwater Cowgirl instructor.

Private lessons are available to students of all ages and skill levels. Whether you’ve been surfing for years or are hitting the waves for the first time, Saltwater Cowgirls instruction will provide the guidance you’re looking for. Lessons are offered all year and will be scheduled according to favorable surf conditions. Lessons are available Monday – Saturday. We take Sundays off and do not offer lessons.

Group Surf Lessons are great opportunities for birthdays, bachelorette parties, corporate outings and family fun in the sun.

Please Note:
Surfboards and wetsuits (if needed) are provided for each lesson. Students may use their own board. All students MUST know how to swim prior to the lesson.
