Preschool: Ballet/Tap combination with acrobatics. These classes are available Monday-Thursday 2:45-3:45 p.m. (Please note on the contract if you prefer a certain day.) This year we are also offering a Monday morning class from 9:00-10:00 a.m.

Kindergarten: Ballet/Tap combination with acrobatics.

First through 4th grades may sign up for Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Acrobatics. Remember, each class is separate with their own recital dance and costume. For example; if your child takes all 4 disciplines they will have 4 costumes. First grade does not have a recital dance for acrobatics, therefore would not have a costume for that class.

Fifth through 12th grades may sign up for Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Pointe, and Acrobatics. Pointe class must be with approval. Ballet and Pointe are two separate classes. You must take Ballet in order to take Pointe. The recital dance is learned during the Ballet Technique class when both Pointe and Ballet students are present.

Open Ballet Class: This is an additional dance class available for those students already enrolled in ballet. This is a class focused on ballet technique, stretching, and conditioning. It will be taught on an advanced level. It is open to anyone currently in Junior, Advanced 1 or Advanced 2 classes.

Extra Classes: If you wish to take additional classes please indicate on your registration form by putting the number of classes next to each discipline. (For example; Ballet – 2.) Any serious student should be taking a minimum of 2 Ballet classes per week beginning in 5th grade. Younger students may also take additional classes with approval.

Student Assistants: Students 7th grade and older are eligible to assist with classes. A tuition discount will be offered for assisting. You must assist for the entire year in order to receive a discount. Priority is given to older dancers. Please note on your registration the day and times you are available

Classes are leveled as students mature. Please respect your teacher’s placement. If changes need to be made, they will be adjusted after classes begin. We realize students dancing in summer programs may need to be re-evaluated in the Fall

We have a two regulation competition size floors that are 42′ x 42′, and all the AAI equipment was purchased new, chosen to meet the specifications for recreational and Olympic training. The Allison Brundick Haramis Foundation, Angels for Allison, is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization founded in memory of 15-year old Allison Haramis, who was tragically killed in an auto accident in April of 2009.  Her family and friends created a legacy of her joyous spirit by aiding with the financial needs of families who are suffering with the loss of a child.

In 1985, Erin Bramlett started Educational Development Services, Inc., to assist students on a one-to-one basis so they could grow and thrive throughout their educational journey. Murray Drive Playground is one of four City parks in the Murray Hill section of west Jacksonville. The property was platted in 1910, and the street along the site’s eastern side was originally named Harkisheimer Avenue. William Harkisheimer was one of the developers of the Edgewood subdivision and probably Murray Hill Heights also. In later years, officials changed the street’s name to Murray Drive. The County purchased the land for the park in 1947, and acquired another small portion in 1961. Since Murray Hill’s oldest house was built in 1897, the area has grown to over five thousand homes in 2003. The small neighborhood park provides children’s play equipment and two benches for relaxation, under a canopy of spreading oak trees.

Fishweir Elementary School’s Performing Arts Magnet Program provides opportunities for all students to express themselves creatively in the areas of oral, written, visual and performing arts. The Murray Hill Playground boasts a water feature splash pad that is sure to keep kids cool after they have fun on the playground equipment

Murray Hill Playground is located in the Murray Hill section of west Jacksonville. One of the City’s oldest schools, Ruth N. Upson Elementary (formerly the Murray Hill School built in 1916)) resides just northwest of the park. Murray Hill incorporated in 1916 and remained a separate municipality until its annexation by Jacksonville in 1925. In 1941, the heirs of J. Graeme Drew sold the park property to the City. Several athletic associations have used and helped maintain the playground over the years including the Murray Hill Youth Assoc., the Wright Youth Assoc., and most recently the Murray Hill Athletic Assoc. Improvement projects in 2001-2003 added two scoreboards, a walk path, fencing for two T-ball fields, a water feature, three portable shelters, a playscape and more.

Stroller Strong Moms Jacksonville was created to provide an opportunity for local moms to reach fitness/wellness goals with the aid of other moms. Program Offered:

Murray Hill is a tuition-free public high school that operates two sessions per day – morning and afternoon. Students have the opportunity to enroll in the session that best fits their personal schedule so they have the flexibility to earn a quality education while working, caring for family, or managing other commitments.

Once enrolled, the school works with the student to create a personalized academic plan to graduate, and immediately helps the student to start earning credits at his/her own pace. Courses are computer-based to help the student to focus and track progress, and certified teachers provide individualized support.

The school serves ages 16 to 21. Graduation ceremonies are held in June.

Willowbranch Park is located in the Riverside area, along the course of Willowbranch Creek. Former City Councilman John J. Griffin led the drive to create the park, and development began in 1916. Additional acreage was acquired southeast of Park Street between 1921 and 1925. Dr. Harold Hume donated 1700 azalea bushes around 1924 to beautify a portion of the grounds, while the Willowbranch Library opened at the park in 1930; and the creek was straightened and bulkheaded in 1934. Eventually four other small City parks/gardens were created from the park property – one south and one north of St. Johns Avenue and two along Park Street (in the 1950’s). Since its creation in 1974, Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP) has worked to preserve and improve the park, along with the Willowbranch Park Improvement Committee that formed in 1999. Through the years it has remained one of the City’s most picturesque parks. At the instigation of Councilman Jim Overton in 2002, a bronze memorial plaque honoring Patricia Austin, the deceased wife of former mayor Ed Austin, was installed at the park in 2004. An immense live oak tree canopies two benches provided for the relaxation of visitors.

The Riverside Children’s Arts Center, a community ministry of Riverside Avenue Christian Church, offers children an outlet for creative expression in a safe, supportive, and nurturing environment by providing a quality introduction to and appreciation of the arts.
