Children are not born with clear vision, but with visual potential. Visual development takes place during the first several years of life. Just like learning a language, children are also learning to see the world around them. Ophthalmic problems or even routine refractive errors (the need for glasses) can interfere with a child’s visual development.

It is estimated that about 80% of a child’s learning is visually based. Good vision is not only necessary for a child to learn to read and advance academically, but also for appropriate social development, behavior, self-esteem, and coordination.

Since younger children cannot express or verbalize their vision, and older children may not be aware enough to understand they have a visual problem; it is important to have any concerns evaluated. Pediatric eye evaluations and treatment differ greatly from the typical eye problems of adults. Children should be seen by someone with special skills and knowledge in pediatric eye care.

We have classes for two, three and four year olds. Children must be two, three, or four by September 1 to be enrolled in these classes. We also have a Mothers Morning Out class for toddler’s age one year old and walking. Our hours are 9:00 a.m.- 1:00 p.m. For added convenience we have early morning available from 8:00-9:00 a.m. and extended day from 1:00-3:00 p.m. Contact the Preschool office at (904) 733-2027 for an enrollment packet or additional information. My name is Daminica Woods.I am a Professional Certified Teacher who has taught all grade level students in Duval County. I have taught at the following schools; Northwestern Middle, Mandarin High School, Landmark Middle School, and Westview K-8. I have also served as a Dean of Students, Coach, and Athletic Director. I have experience coaching Tennis, Basketball, Soccer, and Track at the varsity level. I am offering Home School tutoring for parents who have chosen to home school their children for the 2020-2021 school year. Along with all grade levels, I also have experience teaching ESE students. Regardless of which option you choose for your student (Duval virtual, Duval homeroom, FLVS, or grave levels packets) I can help your student be successful. Sessions are offered online (phone, FaceTime or zoom) and in person. With many different packages available. For in person I will come to your home in proper PPE and teach multiple students if they reside in the same home for 2 hour sessions on all school days or twice a week. Time slots are first come first serve as I am only one person and cannot be everywhere at one time. My work hours are 8:00 am to 7:30 pm on school days beginning the first day of school.

Before You Tie the Knot is for couples and singles interested in marriage at some point in their lives. The instructor will share effective and proven skills to a happy, healthy relationship, such as commitment, positive communication, and positive bonds, as well as effective and proven skills for handling conflicts. She will also discuss the eight needs of every partner, parent and child, the rewards of positive parenting (including step parenting), the importance of money management, and the benefits of having a healthy lifestyle. Owners of European Leather Gallery, Nancy and Dennis Kulm, have been married for more than 25 years. Their discovery of Stressless® furniture was by pure accident. Crabtree Park is located in the Lakewood area, three blocks east of the intersection of San Jose Blvd. and University Blvd. West. Walter Crabtree developed the entire Lakewood area between 1946 and 1961, some of it around picturesque New Ross Creek that meanders through the northwest section. He conveyed the land for the park to Duval County in several deeds between 1957 and 1963. For over fifty years, Walter R. Crabtree (1899-1993) was a real estate developer and builder in Duval County. He operated his own lumber company, and built the Lakewood Apartments across from the park. Through the years, sports have been the main activity at Crabtree Park: organized youth baseball/softball games and pickup basketball games.

Jeff Galloway’s Marathon Training Programs are for all levels of runners, from beginning runners to Boston qualifiers. This Low-mileage, Injury-free Training Program is for those who have jobs, families, and a life! The Jacksonville Galloway Training Program meets on Saturday mornings at various locations across the Jacksonville area, and follows Jeff Galloway’s training guidelines to get you safely across the finish line of a half or full marathon if your goals are to finish, or to achieve a ‘PR’. Our group runs feature walking breaks at regular intervals based on your skill level. Pace groups (of usually 8-15) are set up according to current fitness level, and a Group Leader is assigned to keep the speed slow enough for all members, and to enforce walk breaks from the beginning to the end.

Willowbranch Park is located in the Riverside area, along the course of Willowbranch Creek. Former City Councilman John J. Griffin led the drive to create the park, and development began in 1916. Additional acreage was acquired southeast of Park Street between 1921 and 1925. Dr. Harold Hume donated 1700 azalea bushes around 1924 to beautify a portion of the grounds, while the Willowbranch Library opened at the park in 1930; and the creek was straightened and bulkheaded in 1934. Eventually four other small City parks/gardens were created from the park property – one south and one north of St. Johns Avenue and two along Park Street (in the 1950’s). Since its creation in 1974, Riverside Avondale Preservation (RAP) has worked to preserve and improve the park, along with the Willowbranch Park Improvement Committee that formed in 1999. Through the years it has remained one of the City’s most picturesque parks. At the instigation of Councilman Jim Overton in 2002, a bronze memorial plaque honoring Patricia Austin, the deceased wife of former mayor Ed Austin, was installed at the park in 2004. An immense live oak tree canopies two benches provided for the relaxation of visitors.

Program Offered:

Murray Hill is a tuition-free public high school that operates two sessions per day – morning and afternoon. Students have the opportunity to enroll in the session that best fits their personal schedule so they have the flexibility to earn a quality education while working, caring for family, or managing other commitments.

Once enrolled, the school works with the student to create a personalized academic plan to graduate, and immediately helps the student to start earning credits at his/her own pace. Courses are computer-based to help the student to focus and track progress, and certified teachers provide individualized support.

The school serves ages 16 to 21. Graduation ceremonies are held in June.

There is no cost to attend. All programs are free.

Seeking to merge the local arts and business connection in the newest Loop Restaurant, the two developed a creative design plan with members of the local art and design community. The interior design prototype was created by Rebecca Davisson of Designminds, LLC; Matthew Stidham, a new young artist and photographer, created etchings of favorite Loop menu items; and the blank canvas of the warehouse-style space were then filled with huge, industrial design-minded murals by local artist Steve Williams and his assistant Kyle Cannon. The result is a funky burger brasserie sure to delight LOOP patrons who love their favorite Loop salads, burgers, pizzas & shakes.
