The PRS Running Club of Jacksonville Florida was founded by a group of friends who felt that the Jacksonville running community needed a running club where, on any given day of the week, runners of all abilities could meet up with their friends for a hard run and a good time.
Unlike other running clubs in Jacksonville Florida, the PRS Running Club has its own coach, Paul McRae. Coach McRae, a legendary runner in the Jacksonville community, is a native of New Zealand and president of Personal Running Solutions, a local Jacksonville business that provides customized training plans and offers one on one training sessions. In fact, the symbol of the PRS Running Club, the running kiwi, affectionately known as “Paul”, is the national symbol of New Zealand, known for its ability to survive and persevere even in the most adverse of conditions and circumstances, qualities that are important to any runner. Coach McRae, who has run a 2:27:50 marathon, 1:04:35 half marathon, 28:53 10K and 13:57 5K, along with winning the inaugural Melbourne Marathon and hundreds of local races, attends most of the group runs providing encouragement, inspiration and insight.
The PRS Running Club, with a mission of promoting and encouraging running by educating the community about the benefits of long distance running and endurance athletics, has monthly social events, annual running retreats, puts on fun races to bring new people into running (like the Bold City Beer Run Series and the Krispy Kreme Challenge), and provides scholarships to deserving local high school athletes.
he Florida Striders is a non-profit organization of running enthusiasts who love to run, race and socialize! We were founded in 1978 by a group of runners who sought to promote running for health, fun, and competition with an emphasis on fun. Our members number in the hundreds, increasing every day. We would like to invite you to join the Striders if you are currently running, have children or parents who run, or would like to start running and would enjoy some support and good company. We have many members with competitive coaching experience and we all started somewhere, so if you are thinking about joining and need a little convincing, here are some great reasons to get involved:
Weekly Training Runs. We have training runs in different parts of town and at different times of the day. The traditional 6:30 am Sunday morning run starts and finishes at the Sun Tire on Blanding Blvd in Orange Park with routes of varying distances. Michael Rossi created Wild Wonders in 2002 with the purpose of entertaining while teaching about animals, this is an new outreach program for northeast Florida that includes exotic animals. They come to you! All animals are well cared for and inspected by the USDA, insured and licensed. The program runs for 45 minutes to an hour and teaches children about local and exotic animals in a fun and interesting way. Children are encouraged to pet, hold or just gander at some of these critters.

I studied International Business while living in Valencia, Spain. I worked as a non-profit director for Fort Lauderdale Sister Cities International and then as a Project Manager for E-proDirect, an online marketing agency for the Hospitality Industry. After moving back home to Jacksonville I worked as a Lead Field Organizer for Nextdoor, the private social network for neighborhoods. Throughout all of my work experience, my favorite thing I have done has been investing in Real Estate, which I started doing while attending FSU. E.S. Murdock started “The Pig” in 1955 on Kings Rd. Jacksonville, Florida. The original stores focused on the preparation of award winning barbecue. In the early 1960’s E.S. In this comprehensive series, you and your partner/coach will increase your confidence in the birthing process as you gain a better understanding of what to expect. The series includes information on stages and phases of labor, pain management, cesarean birth, postpartum care and normal newborn characteristics.
Expectant parents are encouraged to complete classes between the 32nd-37th weeks so register early, as space is limited.
Please note: Some breathing and relaxation is included in this class but you will not practice on the floor. For couples desiring more practice on breathing and relaxation techniques, we offer a supplemental one night class called Comfort Measures.

Safe Sitter® Class Description
Safe Sitter® prepares students in grades 6-8 to be safe when they’re home alone, watching younger siblings, or babysitting.
Students learn life-saving skills such as how to rescue someone who’s choking, and helpful information like what to do if there’s severe weather. The lessons are filled with fun activities and role-playing exercises. Students even get to use CPR manikins to practice CPR and choking rescue!

The Green Team Project (GTP) is a grassroots environmental non-profit project of the Tides Center whose focus is to empower and motivate people to make a difference environmentally through their own practices.
We are dedicated to changing long-term consumption behavior, increasing environmental awareness and stewardship, creating a greater sense of community, improving the quality of life, and having fun.
Green Team Project has educational programs for every member of the community. Through Green Teams, individuals, businesses, schools, and other organizations turn good intentions into concrete positive environmental action. The average graduate of a Green Team saves between 10-30% in each of the five resource areas: water, energy, solid waste, chemicals, and transportation, as well as a fair amount of money.
By using the team process our participants have the support and motivation they need to follow through on conservation actions, learn new things, and adopt long-lasting environmental habits.
The STEAM Cultural Passport is a Duval County program that provides students in Title I elementary schools with three to four educational field trips per year. These field trip experiences are connected to programs and offerings in Science, Technology, Engineering, The Arts, and Mathematics. Organizations are selected through an application process, and events are scheduled according to available services to schools. The program is currently funded through federal dollars and provides cultural experiences to students, most of whom would not otherwise receive these kinds of opportunities.
During each trip, the students will board a St. Johns River Taxi boat from Friendship Fountain Park for a 2-hour tour of the river. While on board, they will rotate through a series of educational activities that correlate to state standards and focus on river science.
Students will learn to use water quality monitoring equipment, gather and interpret water quality data, record observational data on manatees and dolphins in the St. Johns River, examine river plants and animals for adaptations that enable them to thrive in the river ecosystem, and use their water quality data and what they learn on the trips to make predictions about the future of the St. Johns River.
Jax Stroller Strength lets moms workout with their kids and gives them a chance to connect with other mothers. Bootcamp style classes are offered every day of the week at the Beaches, Mandarin, Riverside and Nocatee locations. When turned into a powder, it can be mixed with water and essential oil (I use Eucalyptus) to create an all natural ink. The ink goes on like a gel, dries and peels off, leaving you with a stain “tattoo.” Typically, the tattoo will last 2 weeks. Labor is physically and emotionally challenging. Prepare yourself with comfort measures that can be used during early labor or for those choosing a more natural birth. This one-night virtual class will enhance what you have already learned in your childbirth preparation class. You’ll have an opportunity to review labor, practice relaxation and breathing exercises, positions, and comfort techniques.
We offer two options for this virtual class:
- 1 Saturday session, 1.5 hours
- 1 weeknight session, 1.5 hours
In this condensed virtual class an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant or Certified Lactation Counselor will teach you the most important evidence based concepts needed to get breastfeeding off to the best start. There will be plenty of time at the end of class to ask questions.

- proper latch and position
- how long and how often to feed
- baby’s feeding cues
- signs that baby is getting enough
- breast care and comfort

Haley and Christian, parents of Camden, 6, and Luna, 3, live in Jacksonville, FL. They have talked about creating their own nonprofit organization for almost five years now and decided in 2023 to make it official. Their passion for raising awareness for cystic fibrosis comes from their son, who was diagnosed at two weeks old after several complications. Camden has had six hospitalizations, three surgeries, and numerous other cystic fibrosis-related complications. His care is managed by Nemours Children’s Health in Jacksonville, FL.
The Christoffersens created Camden’s Corner (a nonprofit organization) to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis and build a community for caregivers, as we know first-hand how hard it can be to be a caregiver and a parent to a medically complex child. Our fundraising events help us raise money towards a cure (through the CFF), support the care center in Jacksonville, and build programs for people living with cystic fibrosis and their caregivers.

The United Confederate Veterans chose Jacksonville as the site for their twenty-fourth annual reunion in 1914, which was attended by an estimated 48,000 former Confederate soldiers. Many of the activities took place in the park, and five months later it was renamed, Confederate Park. Troops, many from the nearby Armory, used the playground portion of the park for drill grounds and tent/hut encampments during both World Wars. The playground was permanently established as a separate facility from Confederate Park in the 1950’s, and today provides open space and recreational facilities for residents of the Springfield and downtown communities.

We provide programs that benefit people with different abilities in our community and surrounding areas. Our newest program is designed to give people with special needs a place to show their many talents. Each individual will have the opportunity to be creative and show the community their love for music, singing, dancing, acting, or fashion, just to name a few creative arts.
We want to help them bring out certain potentials within themselves. We are raising funds to set up a creator’s studio and Music venue where they can come learn and practice. We also want a space for music therapy as it: reduces anxiety and physical effects of stress, improves healing, can reduce depression and other symptoms in the elderly, helps to reduce symptoms of psychological disorders including schizophrenia, can help improves self-expression and communication
Oakland Park is located in the Oakland section of downtown Jacksonville, and has been City property since the 1880’s. The residential community of Oakland emerged during the 1870’s and was oriented toward working-class families. West of the park lies the Old City Cemetery established in 1852, and along the park’s northern boundary, St. Joseph’s Cemetery, which is a part of the Old City Cemetery. The park has historical significance as the first playground established by the City of Jacksonville for African-American children. The park opened on July 4, 1918, through the efforts of noted Jacksonville humanitarian, Eartha M.M. White (1876-1974), and for ten years was under the direction of pioneer recreational leader Florida C. Dwight (1886-1977).
This park is named after A. Philip Randolph who grew up in Jacksonville and became one of the most important figures of the Civil Rights Movement during the 1950s and 1960s. A life-size bronze statue of Olympic Gold Medallist and Dallas Cowboy star, Bob Hayes, was added to the park in November 2002. Hayes grew up in Jacksonville, less than a mile from the park. Park amenities include playscapes, an amphitheater, picnic tables, benches and restrooms.

The Jacksonville Icemen, proud affiliate of the NHL’s Winnipeg Jets and AHL’s Manitoba Moose, announced they were awarded an ECHL membership in February 2017, beginning with the 2017-18 season. The Icemen begin their 72 game season at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena on Saturday, October 14 against the Orlando Solar Bears. Callahan Dance Academy has been family owned and operated for more than 55 years and has been in Callahan for over 30 years. We offer dance training in tap, jazz, hip hop, clogging, ballet/lyrical, and acrobatics.
Wiley Road Playground is located at the intersection of Lane Avenue and Wiley Road in southwest Jacksonville. It resides adjacent to the Cedar Hills Estates neighborhood that was developed in the latter 1950’s, and across from Hyde Grove Elementary School that that was built in 1960. The City purchased most of the playground property in 1971, and obtained the rest when for a portion of Coulee Ave. was closed two years later. The property remained undeveloped for several years, and HUD built a Senior Citizen Center at the site about 1980-81. During its early years, the playground contained an athletic field, tennis and shuffleboard courts, restrooms, and a sizeable undeveloped area. Recent improvements include a new water feature in 2001 and a major addition to the Senior Center in 2003.
Preschool: Ballet/Tap combination with acrobatics. These classes are available Monday, Tuesday and Thursday 2:45-3:45 p.m. (Please note on the contract if you prefer a certain day.)
Kindergarten: Ballet/Tap combination with acrobatics.
First through 4th grades may sign up for Ballet, Jazz, Tap, and Acrobatics. Remember, each class is separate with their own recital dance and costume. For example; if your child takes all 4 disciplines they will have 4 costumes. First grade does not have a recital dance for acrobatics therefore would not have a costume for that class.
Fifth through 12th grades may sign up for Ballet, Jazz, Tap, Pointe, and Acrobatics. Pointe class must be with approval. Ballet and Pointe are two separate classes. You must take Ballet in order to take Pointe. There is however one costume for the two classes. The recital dance is learned during the Ballet Technique class when both Pointe and Ballet students are present.
