TnT is a daily after-school program. TnT (Tennis-n-Tutoring) operates from 3pm-6pm, Monday-Friday in the MaliVai Washington Youth Center. Cesery Park is located in Arlington’s Lake Lucina neighborhood, at the corner of Cesery Boulevard and Columbine Street. The park and boulevard are named for William R. Cesery (1912-1996), a pioneer developer of Arlington who started the trend of building larger apartment complexes in Jacksonville. About 1950, he purchased forty acres for his first subdivision, which took its name from a large water hole that he called Lake Lucina. General Trading Company, whose principals, D.W. and F.W. Tredinick, founded the Jax Liquor Store chain, donated the land for the park to Duval County in 1961. The County created a tot lot for children, and the City took over its operation following consolidation in 1968. A wooden pavilion and picnic tables were added to the park in 1996.

This is Surf into Summer’s 19th year teaching campers to master the waves, making it the longest running surf camp on the First Coast. We offer surf camps in both Jacksonville Beach and Ponte Vedra Beach.

At Surf into Summer, campers will learn from the top surfers in North Florida. Campers will not only learn the basics of paddling and how to stand up on a board, but also important knowledge on beach and water safety from the CPR certified instructors.

The HEAL Foundation is a local non-profit organization in Northeast Florida. HEAL serves individuals and families living with Autism Spectrum Disorders. The Foundation serves as an outreach organization providing, educational programs and camps tailored to the needs of our Autism Community.

Over the past five years, HEAL is proud to have awarded over one million dollars to provide:

Grants to support camps, education, community programs
Classroom enhancements for local schools through grants
Educational seminars for parents, teachers and therapists
Fun recreational and social events for families
Autism Spectrum Disorders are characterized, in varying degrees, by difficulties in social interaction, verbal and nonverbal communication, and repetitive behaviors. The CDC reports that 1 in 50 individuals are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. The recent sharp rise in numbers of Autism has been described as an epidemic among children. Many with Autism also suffer from a constellation of illnesses, intestinal disorders and autoimmune diseases. The cause of Autism is a heavily debated subject; scientific researchers are looking into genetics and environmental causes.

Ultimate Beaches Guide: It just doesn’t feel quite like summer until we have made our first trip to Mickler’s Beach. Located on the south end of Ponte Vedra Beach, it is a beautiful, easy-to-navigate beach. The beach access point provides ample parking, restrooms, showers and a handicapped accessible dune walk-over. We always find amazing seashells and shark teeth walking along this beautiful stretch beach. It is not atypical to see fisherman pulling in some fairly impressive catch off the shoreline or find yourself strolling alongside a horseback rider. Some of our most idyllic days happened at Mickler’s. This beach is a bit out of the way, so we tend to pack a picnic lunch although you are just a short drive away from dining options off of A1A.

Scenic A1A: The four-lane roads of Ponte Vedra Beach narrow to two as nature takes over the ride. The first public beach in Ponte Vedra, a favorite of locals, lies two blocks east of A1A at the last traffic light you’ll see for 20 miles. On the right the turn street is called Mickler Road; on the left Ponta Vedra Boulevard. Even though there is no sign designating this hidden gem, take the left. Mickler’s Landing, pronounced “Myklers” by locals, a local favorite famous for its pink, coquina-sand stretches of beach, has no sign at all. So finding it is a special delight. The wooden walkway through the twenty-foot high sand dunes gives you the first inkling that a special place is about to be revealed.

Hammond Park is located in west Jacksonville at the intersection of 12th Street and Melson Avenue. In 1923, the property comprised part of a site used for airplane takeoffs and landings, and was named Paxon Field for the tract’s owner, E. H. Paxon. After opening in 1955 as Paxon Park, the name was changed to honor Duval County Commissioner Joseph F. Hammond (1885-1967), who, except for two years, served continuously from 1921-1961.
