Labor is physically and emotionally challenging. Prepare yourself with comfort measures that can be used during early labor or for those choosing a more natural birth. This one-night virtual class will enhance what you have already learned in your childbirth preparation class. You’ll have an opportunity to review labor, practice relaxation and breathing exercises, positions, and comfort techniques.

We offer two options for this virtual class:

• 1 weeknight session, 1.5 hours

In this condensed virtual class an International Board Certified Lactation Consultant or Certified Lactation Counselor will teach you the most important evidence based concepts needed to get breastfeeding off to the best start. There will be plenty of time at the end of class to ask questions.

• proper latch and position
• how long and how often to feed
• baby’s feeding cues
• signs that baby is getting enough
• breast care and comfort

Camden has had six hospitalizations, three surgeries, and numerous other cystic fibrosis-related complications. His care is managed by Nemours Children’s Health in Jacksonville, FL.

The Christoffersens created Camden’s Corner (a nonprofit organization) to raise awareness for cystic fibrosis and build a community for caregivers, as we know first-hand how hard it can be to be a caregiver and a parent to a medically complex child. Private Full Time Islamic School. Al-Furqan Academy was established in August of 1997 by some of the same founding members of ICNEF (Islamic Center of Northeast Florida). Hammond Park is located in west Jacksonville at the intersection of 12th Street and Melson Avenue. In 1923, the property comprised part of a site used for airplane takeoffs and landings, and was named Paxon Field for the tract’s owner, E. H. Paxon. After opening in 1955 as Paxon Park, the name was changed to honor Duval County Commissioner Joseph F. Hammond (1885-1967), who, except for two years, served continuously from 1921-1961. Also he served as president of the National Association of County Officials. Three area schools and the Hammond Senior Center (formerly the Youth Center) reside near the park. In 1994 a major renovation of the ball fields occurred, and an improvement project in 2004 added a new building with a two-story scorebox, restrooms, and a handicap-accessible concession stand.

Florida C. Dwight Memorial Playground is located in the La Villa section near downtown Jacksonville, just west of Interstate 95. The park comprised a portion of the Town of La Villa, which was subdivided and incorporated after the Civil War and remained independent until annexed by Jacksonville in 1887. After the City purchased the land in 1904, it became a park for the area’s white residents known as La Villa Park. In 1929, the City’s second playground for African-American children was established there and named La Villa Playground. Florida Dwight (1886-1977), the playground’s first recreation director, pioneered organized recreation for the City’s African-American community from 1918 (with the opening of Oakland Park) until her retirement in 1950. To honor her years of devoted work, the playground was renamed in 1983, and then designated a local historic landmark in 1995.

Early Learning Center strives to provide the highest standards of educational excellence within a Christ-centered preschool environment. Beach ELC provides both part-time and full-day options for children 18 months through VPK, 4 years of age.

The most important period of learning for a child is from birth to the age of six. When filling out a magnet application, you must select only one of these tracks. If you apply for both your application may be rejected by the magnet office. You can only apply for the gifted track if your student has been certified as gifted by DCPS, otherwise you must apply for the academically talented track. Both tracks have similar curricula and course progressions, because JWJ only offers advanced courses. Students at JWJ must maintain a 2.0 GPA in either program to keep their magnet seat, and must pass all classes, including electives, to be promoted.

SMART Couples is conducting FUN and FREE remote relationship-strengthening classes that help couples, parents, and stepfamilies learn simple and effective skills to build happy, successful, and life-long relationships. In our remote classes, couples and singles throughout Duval county can learn constructive conflict skills, stress management techniques, and even better money management all from the comfort of their homes.

ELEVATE: COUPLES WORKSHOP

Elevate: Taking Your Relationship to the Next Level is for dating, married, engaged, and cohabiting couples. The instructor will share nine important communication skills in every relationship and ways to increase positive communication, deal with differences, manage stress, set financial goals, and maintain a happy and healthy friendship bond. Couples will participate in fun relationship-strengthening activities with their partner during the workshop.

Before You Tie the Knot

Before You Tie the Knot is for couples and singles interested in marriage at some point in their lives. The instructor will share effective and proven skills to a happy, healthy relationship, such as commitment, positive communication, and positive bonds, as well as effective and proven skills for handling conflicts. She will also discuss the eight needs of every partner, parent and child, the rewards of positive parenting (including step parenting), the importance of money management, and the benefits of having a healthy lifestyle. Couples who attend all classes are eligible for a discount on their marriage license.

Jax Beach Surf Shop offers both private and group surf lessons along with stand up paddle boarding lessons. For adults and children ages 7 and up (parents must stay with children under 13 years of age). Lessons last 1 hour, 15 minutes and include the use of a soft surf board during the lesson and for the rest of the day, tutorial on how to surf, surfing safety, marine life awareness, rip current awareness, and surfing.

Tony Hall and his staff at Jax Beach Surf Shop have been teaching surfing and ocean safety for over 20 years. Come join us for some fun in the sun.

Jacksonville Classical Academy will be located near downtown Jacksonville on Forest Street and is a tuition-free public charter school. The first year will begin with kindergarten through 6th grade and will be open to approximately 650 students, selected by random lottery. Grades will be added each year to reach K-12 with a total capacity of approximately 1,000 students. Our charter application was unanimously approved by the Duval County School Board on May 7, 2019.
