Jacksonville FC has been established since 1977 and consists of 3 main programs – recreational, academy and travel (KYX) teams for players aged U5-U19. The recreational program spans all age groups and is for player development and enjoyment of the game. The academy program offers both developmental academy (U6-U12) and travel academy (U9-U12). The goal is to provide age-appropriate technical and tactical training in a positive learning environment. The Advanced program (U13-U18) places players in a competitive training and playing environment that challenges them to reach the highest levels of play. JFC travel programs have 35 teams who participate in regional, state and premiere leagues.

There are so many fun festivals, concerts, and movie nights at the amphitheater. If you are heading out to enjoy the sand and waves on Jacksonville Beach, you will find ample parking across the beach; but be careful that you do not park in a restricted area. If you think your little one might need to get off the beach and stroll away from the sand for a time, this a terrific beach for you. There is a park on 9th Avenue North, Tall Pines Park, that can provide a nice change of pace. There are also easy-to-access public restrooms on 3rd Avenue North, 2nd Avenue North, and 5th Avenue North. It may sound crazy but my favorite eatery to frequent on my Jacksonville Beach days is a grocery store, Native Sun. This place makes delicious juices and has lots of yummy ready eat foods that are perfect to take with you. At Little Seals Swim School, we offer one-on-one survival swim lessons to children as young as 8 months old. Babies/infants are taught to roll over and float on their backs. Once they reach a year old (or have been walking for about 6 weeks), they are taught to swim with their face in the water. The children are then taught to sequence the swimming with the floating in order to rest and breathe while swimming and playing in the water. They repeat the swim-float-swim sequence until they reach the steps or side. Once children are fully skilled, they have the opportunity to practice their skills fully clothed for “Silly Swim” lessons. Once lessons are completed, students are encouraged to maintain their skills by attending twice-monthly maintenance lessons (or semi-annual refresher lessons). Introduction to stroke lessons are, also, available for children that are developmentally ready (usually beginning between 4 and 6 years of age). Instructors are trained to present stroke lessons in a fun way that is relatable to young children.

The Swim Lesson Club indoor heated pool is located in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville. Our pool is heated 92 degrees and perfectly designed for teaching all ages of swimming instruction.

We utilize endless swimming technology allowing us to easily correct technique and achieve excellent swimming conditioning for our developing swimmers. We offer videographer and stroke analysis that is very difficult to accomplish in a normal lap swimming pool. We partner with Swim Angelfish and utilize a special methodology ideal for children with water anxiety, sensory sensitivity, autism, or in need of adapted swimming instruction.

We partner with US Masters Swimming to provide top-notch swim coaching for our developing and advanced swimmers. Our adult students benefit from our partnership with US Masters Swimming and the Emperor Penguin adult learn to swim program/ self-teaching method.

Children are not born with clear vision, but with visual potential. Visual development takes place during the first several years of life. Just like learning a language, children are also learning to see the world around them. Ophthalmic problems or even routine refractive errors (the need for glasses) can interfere with a child’s visual development.

It is estimated that about 80% of a child’s learning is visually based. Good vision is not only necessary for a child to learn to read and advance academically, but also for appropriate social development, behavior, self-esteem, and coordination.

Since younger children cannot express or verbalize their vision, and older children may not be aware enough to understand they have a visual problem; it is important to have any concerns evaluated. Pediatric eye evaluations and treatment differ greatly from the typical eye problems of adults. Children should be seen by someone with special skills and knowledge in pediatric eye care.

Chuck Rogers Park is located in Mandarin, north of the intersection of San Jose Blvd. and Orange Picker Rd. Sometime between 1968-1977, a borrow pit was excavated on part of the site, which was later used as a private landfill. The efforts of the City, Councilman Dick Kravitz, and the Jacksonville Youth Soccer Club led to the purchase of the site in 1995 and its development as Mandarin’s first soccer park, which opened for the inaugural game March 7, 1997. An additional 1.1-acre parcel for the park was donated to the City in 1998. The park is named for Chuck Rogers (1909-1980), who worked for the Parks and Recreation Dept. for 41 years. He started and ran the City’s youth leagues in all sports, was the guiding light in the tremendous rise of slow-pitch softball in the City, served for many years as the grand marshal for the City’s parades, and much more. Eventually, Mr. Rogers was inducted into the Jacksonville Sports Hall of Fame.

Debbie’s Dance Company offers extensive and diverse programs in classical Ballet, Pointe, Tap, Jazz, Hip-hop, Baton, Modern, Acrobatics, Lyrical, and Flexibility.

For over 20 years, Debbie’s Dance Company has offered a complete dance program for beginning thru advanced and semiprofessionals, ages 2 1/2 and up. We believe that for whatever reason you choose to dance – fun, exercise, social or artistic benefits, or the sheer love of music – our responsibility is not only to teach the technical aspect of dance, but also to inspire children to “desire to be the best he or she can be.”

Independent, Private preschool for children ages 1 to VPK​

Play, learn and grow at the Padawan Academy, which is a private preschool for children ages 1 to VPK. Padawan Academy students receive priority enrollment for kindergarten at San Jose Primary, a tuition-free charter school that serves grades K-5 on the campus immediately next door. Tuition discounts apply for families with multiple children at the Padawan Academy, or for those families with older children enrolled in the San Jose Schools. Free VPK for 4-year-olds is available for all Florida residents.

Your child will be supported by a team of educators experienced in early childhood development and in the use of activity-based curricula. An abundance of hands-on projects in the classroom and physical activity on the playground will make school time your child’s fun time.

Our staff members communicate your child’s milestones with photos and texts via a school-specific mobile app. We invite you to share in your child’s day via live cameras in our classrooms. Tuition rates include two meals per day, snack, wipes and diapers (as needed).

From initial screenings to evaluation, FSST will support your loved ones with patience and experienced care. With hospital and school based experience we provide therapy for articulation/phonological disorders, auditory-language processing disorders, language-based learning disabilities, language disorders and more. We offer 1:1 speech therapy onsite at our clinic, offsite (school or daycare), and virtual for flexibility in scheduling. In the community serving across Jacksonville since 2012. We believe that children learn through play. Children construct their knowledge by touching, tasting, smelling, watching, listening, thinking, and doing. Our child centered curriculum encourages choice making and social competence.

Learning Ladders offers part-time and full-time programs for children ages 1-4. Free VPK is also available.

Located in Mandarin, the Mandarin United Methodist Church Pumpkin Patch is one of the biggest in the city. Filled with tons of pumpkins of all sizes, this patch also offers props including giant pumpkins, mini tractors, Fall decor and more, making it the perfect spot for fall photos.
